If I could be completely objective, this would be pretty interesting to see how each franchise were to go about it. ----- The Red Wings are preceding the Sabres through the California road trip. They earned 1 point combined vs. the Sharks, Ducks, and Kings. And good job on the Habs shutting out the Oilers. It’s a huge positive the ~8th place teams are struggling mightily this year. Generally around this time of year, to find ourselves 1 point back of the team on the final playoff pace, we’d need to have ~3 more points right now than we do. It may not seem like a lot, but it’s the difference between pacing for 77 points like we are now and 91 points instead. we should capitalize 1 1 Quote

It was inevitable. They are a disaster right now. I could list a bunch of reasons for it (Swayman is the biggest) but it's a Sabres site so just enjoy their freefall. I am surprised they gave it to Sacco though. I had thought that's why they brought back Leach but whatever. If they flounder new coach next year. 1 Quote

DarthEbriate Posted Tuesday at 09:30 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 09:30 PM Montgomery is a good coach; the Bruins have a good culture and organization. The roster looks a little weak and has ever since Bergeron and Krejci retired. But they're at the quarter pole and trailing NYI and OTT in points % and with a -21 goal differential. This is their wake-up call like Edmonton last season. But Edmonton had McDavid and Draisaitl. 1 Quote

CallawaySabres Posted Tuesday at 09:52 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 09:52 PM That is what good teams do before it is too late. And here the Sabres refuse to fire the worst GM in hockey as they melt into nothing once again. 2 1 2 Quote
That Aud Smell Posted Tuesday at 10:01 PM Author Report Posted Tuesday at 10:01 PM I mean, my favourite team is still quite mid. But I take some comfort from the vaunted and seemingly undead Bruins finally - FINALLY - taking a step back into the pack of mediocrity. Now, please, continue your descent and livest thou amongst the league's basement dwellers. 1 1 Quote

I've got a great spot for him as an assistant to go on a Revenge Tour... oh, wait. The Sabres already have their next HC on the bench in Appert. 1 Quote

I’ll take the bait. Why do you think that? Sure, Sway will figure it out, but…the team veterans are also dropping off (not Pasta), they have no depth scoring, the long term deals for Lindholm and Zadorov slotted them above their ability and will age poorly, and they’ve burned through two good coaches. Yes they’ve been good for a very long time without a classic rebuild, but they’re going to pay the piper someday and I think it is here. They’ve played 20 games and TWO guys have ten points or more. The Sabres have eight guys with ten plus points in 18 games. They are bad and there is no white knight coming for Boston. 1 Quote

If they are such garbage, though, why are they still ahead of us? If Buffalo can’t pull ahead of them in the standings, it is more of an indictment on us than it is them. 1 Quote

shrader Posted yesterday at 02:27 PM Report Posted yesterday at 02:27 PM Or they’re ahead because they’ve played 2 more games. One of those top 4 spots has opened up. Now we’ll wait and see who claims it. 1 Quote

Boston is more serious about winning than the Sabres are I dunno. The Sabres have fired more head coaches since Terry took over. It's hard to use the word "keep" in relation to coaching. The GM position has been slightly less volatile, but only a little. Boston is more serious about winning, but that's because of the owner. Quote
LabattBlue Posted yesterday at 05:26 PM Report Posted yesterday at 05:26 PM Ovie out week to week with a leg injury. 😞 Too bad as he is off to a great start and 27 goals away from overtaking Gretzky. I am sure some don’t want the record broken, but I look forward to it “possibly” happening. 1 Quote
PerreaultForever Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago I am finding it weird, but also quite amusing how quickly the Bruins fan site has turned into the same type of conversations that we have had here for years. It's a large and diverse group with many opinions but the "arguments" now are the same. Fire the GM, culture is broken, lazy country club locker room, tear it down and start over. Almost everything read here is now over there. Also Sweeney quoted with "players that want to be here will stay". How familiar is that! Now the only problem for me is the Sabres aren't winning yet. The flip is missing that part of the equation. I really don't want to go looking for a 3rd team to enjoy hockey. Quote
