What is wrong with 'kids' these days? 39 year old Alex Ovechkin leading the league in goals (tied with 2 others but Ovi has done it in less games). I guess it must be true what they say, anyone under 35 is just lazy.😁 Quote

Funny thing is that Gretzky was never thought of as a “goal scorer” per se while Ovi’s entire game revolves around scoring goals. Just shows the greatness that was 99. 1 Quote

Gretzky was the fastest all time to 1000 points, in 424 games. The second fastest to 1000? Gretzky with the 433 it took to get to his second 1000 points. Lemieux took 513 games. 4 Quote

mjd1001 Posted Tuesday at 03:55 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 03:55 AM And Ovechkin with 2 more tonight. 5 goals in the last 2 days. Leading the league. 15 goals in 18 games. Thats nearly a 70 goal pace. I know he's not going to keep up that pace, but its really beyond understanding how he is doing it at 39 years old (and looks like he's closing in on 50) Quote

Hopefully nothing major as it’s quite the spectacle seeing him turn back time this season. Quote
Flashsabre Posted Tuesday at 01:03 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 01:03 PM Bruins booed off the ice after being spanked 5-1 by the Jackets. I wouldn’t be surprised if Montgomery’s time is just about up in Boston. 2 Quote

Which the Bruins will probably carry out in short order and once again leave the Sabres behind. Quote

This poses a hypothetical situation (which we could easily see): If the Sabres and Bruins both miss the playoffs this season, which team makes the playoffs first? If I could be completely objective, this would be pretty interesting to see how each franchise were to go about it. ----- The Red Wings are preceding the Sabres through the California road trip. They earned 1 point combined vs. the Sharks, Ducks, and Kings. And good job on the Habs shutting out the Oilers. Edited Tuesday at 02:12 PM by DarthEbriate 1 Quote
mjd1001 Posted Tuesday at 03:31 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 03:31 PM (edited) A big mistake by Boston finally? Elias Lindholm -He has 2 goals through 20 games for Boston so far (8 goal, 36 point pace per 82) -Last year he had a total of 15 goals and 29 assists, and was a -14 for the year. -hasn't scored more than 22 goals in a season since 2021-22, when he started the year at 25 years old. -He is going to be 30 in a couple weeks. He is in the first year of a $7.75 million dollar per year deal that goes for 7 more years. -So far this year he has been an anchor (a bad one) for Boston. His deal will run out when he is 37 years old. He is getting paid more than Tage, and already is beyond his 'statistical' peak. Edited Tuesday at 03:33 PM by mjd1001 2 2 Quote

I agree with you but Boston don’t fool around and they can’t trade significant pieces so the coach is the natural move right now. 1 Quote

Lindholm was a very good 2C, much akin to his draft-year and former CGY teammate Monahan. Solid system guys who play well defensively and could step into that 1C role in an occasional capacity -- and sometimes, you get a great year out of them. Lindholm centered Tkachuk and Gaudreau when they had their breakout Huzzah Calgary season. But Lindholm, the center, finished over 30 points behind both of his wingers. And then you wake up one day and five years have passed, and that season was a statistical outlier, and honestly, he should be making 3C money, and..., good signing, Boston! And Father Buyout is likely waiting for you there in 3 years or some playoff contender will take him with retention or some tanker will get him to reach the floor. Quote

A coworker of mine is a Bruins season ticket holder. He's still convinced they will make the playoffs. Their goal differential stinks, but Caps shrugged it off last year.
