Wins over Colorado, Buffalo, and the last 2 they blew out Toronto and blew out Edmonton. And they are doing it with "bleh" goaltending so far. Other thing I am watching is Kaprizov in Minnesota. He might be what I consider the most under-rated player in the game now. 15 points in 8 games so far. He had almost 50 goals and 100 points last year with missing 7 games. Since he came into the league, he is 6th in goals and 10th in points in the entire league. I think most of us on this board know he's good, but he is on the border of superstar/elite...and I don't think he gets that recognition. Yeah, the BJs are an interesting bunch. Their record is quite a bit better than expected especially with them playing minus their only star player. But not really giving them credit for blowing out the Eulers in a game that McDavid broke on his 1st or 2nd shift. Will be interesting to see how long they can ride the win for Johnny Hockey run. Expecting they'll be this year's Housley or Krueger era Sabres and the bubble will burst sometime by early December at the latest. Completely agree about Kaprizov. Were he playing in a more "relevant" market he'd be feted as the star he really has shown to be.

I really wonder though how long they can ride that emotional high. I really don’t want to see them come crashing down as hard as I think they will. mjd1001
Just noticed the Caps vs Rangers, and Capitals put the game away with an empty net goal....goal song? Kickstart my Heart by Motley Crue...same as in Buffalo.
zow2
The Caps are playing like the team i wanted the Sabres to be. A few new guys sprinkled in but they forecheck and cycle relentlessly, solid puck possession,… tonight they outshot the Rangers 46-19. They have a confidence to their game. I also think he said he would have preferred to stay a Sabre. I remember that so I guess we take it as truth but these days I don't believe much from agents and/or managers in these type of things. The bottom line for me is although Mitts is no superstar, the trade was bad for this team and what it needed/needs.

Both of those teams are going to come out hard against us this weekend. Buffalo needs to match the intensity and get points in both of those games! As per my post above, what is up with Columbus? It is now more than just one or two games, they are consistently looking really really good. On the D side not as good but Elvis is on a roll and covering up the mistakes so they can go winging down the ice. They are a lot like the Sabres team 2 years ago but with better goaltending at the moment.
bg17
Swayman 4 goals allowed on 10 shots in the first period tonight. A terrible shame. All my best to perreaultforever in this most difficult time. 1

You cannot bury them until April, but they look bad and I’m here for it.

Boston.....negative 13 now for the Bruins in goal differential, 3rd worst in the league as I type this. Marchand 1 goal in 10 games and a minus 6. Both goalies with a save percentage now below .900. Pastrnak the only player on the team with more than 3 goals. Yeah, they might turn things around, they aren't terribly old overall, but they don't just look bad, they look really bad right now. He hasn't been spectacular (not worth his money) but he's been fine and Korpisalo has actually been good. Just about everything else is going wrong for them though. There are so many things wrong with that Bruins team right now it's not worth listing them all. My money is on Monty being fired tomorrow. Watching them right now is about the same as it was watching the Sabres under Krueger.

DarthEbriate
Last night, the Pens snapped a 6-game losing streak with both goals from Crosby in a 2-1 OT win. They've looked pretty poor all year. Prior to that game, their last win was the Crosby/Malkin Dual Milestone game against the Sabres that they probably weren't going to lose regardless of the opponent. History may show that was one of their last hurrahs.
