#freejame Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 Shocked and saddened by this news. There’s a lot on my mind, but I’ll let it at that for now. Quote
DHawerchuk10 Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 Shocked and saddened. Just absolutely terrible. Quote
LTS Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 Absolutely awful. It's all the words I feel I can put together right now. Quote
Eli Cash Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 Brothers together for a bike ride days before their sister’s wedding. Awful. Quote
bob_sauve28 Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 Gees, life is so fragile. We seem so immortal but it can go so easily 😢 1 Quote

GoPuckYourself Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 Terrible news, he always seemed like a good dude also. Disgusting also if the driver was impaired! 2 Quote

The SUV went into the passing lane, basically, and a vehicle he was trying to pass then cut in front of him to give the riders room? Then..Not sure how that led to an accident. I always hate/fear riding on busy, fast roads. Best bet is to stay on side roads/trails if you can. I'll never forget this one guy that was driving down a street perpendicular to the road I was riding down and he went right through the stop sign at full speed before finally looking to see if anyone was coming, I slammed on my breaks and he did stop with a screech, way past the stop sign and arrogantly waved me on with, "go!" I thought I was dead for a split second. How awful, the poor family must be devastated. The guy who did this, too. 1 1 Quote
shrader Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 What a horrible story. And then you see the wedding information a few minutes later. Quote

I'd guess that the SUV moved over to shield the bikers a bit, maybe annoying Higgins a bit. And he cut back into the lane quickly after passing, right into the bikes. I hate speculating, but that's what it sounds like to me. 4 Quote
thewookie1 Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 Utterly tragic, gives me serious depression since I'm about the same age as him. I hope the bastard that hit them is thrown in jail and the key is thrown away. Drunk driving is stupid enough on its own but to do so when there are 50 other options; its absurd. 1 minute ago, shrader said: I'd guess that the SUV moved over to shield the bikers a bit, maybe annoying Higgins a bit. That Aud Smell Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 Jesus Christ. Just awful. RIP. May their family and friends be comforted. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 Oh, dear God. I see that it somehow gets worse, the more you learn. Like others have said: This was not an accident. It was an incident. And it's more than fair to say that a drunk driver killed the Gaudreaus. Let's set aside the degrees of manslaughter/murder for now. Quote
postseasonblues Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 This is just awful. So many lives destroyed. It's sounding like the driver passed the 2nd vehicle on the right after they moved over to go around the bikers. 1 1 Quote
Taro T Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 May he and his brother RIP. What a horribly tragic way for their sister to begin her married life. Prayers to the family and all involved. Quote
shrader Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 The last death of an active NHL player was also Columbus and right before a wedding (unless I'm forgetting about any other death since then). Someone needs to give this organization a break. 2 Quote
dudacek Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 That poor family. And under those circumstances and against that backdrop. And Columbus, again. 1 Quote
7+6=13 Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 Oh no. Complete sadness came over me. My heart just dropped for those people. Quote

Wtf is he doing trying to pass someone on the right? It’s a two lane road so guy is on the shoulder passing someone. Jesus 1 2 Quote
irregularly irregular Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 So sad. And it was 100% preventable, especially in this day and age. It's not like driving while inebriated is a new thing that nobody understands. Prayers for the Gaudreau family at this tragic and painful time. Quote
