That's the FALSE part. The rest of the roster has to be good too. You aren't going to win squat with a bunch of jamokes. How do you not get that?

Because someone is arguing the Bills aren't really a great team.

Do you even read and try to understand my point?  Or or you just so eager for an argument.  I have never referenced or said they can take a team of 'jamokes' into a contender.  Maybe I need to spell this out for you, I would think through context you could get it:

An average team, a 'middle of the road team', a team that struggles to be in the playoffs.  Most of the teams in the Bills drought.  An elite level QB will take that team and turn them into a contender.

My point is there are poorly run organizations, and then there is everyone else. Buffalo is in the everything else category. To me there isn't much of a difference between the 5th best run organiztion and the 25th.  The reason the Bills are in that "they are run OK" category but win a lot of games is that it is the elite level QB that gets them there.  The Bills are not an elite level run organization. If they did everything else elite, then with Josh Allen they would be in the superbowl already. They are OK. Maybe good. but not elite.

If you disagree with that fine. But do not mis-characterize my point by throwing in the 'bunch of jamokes' comment when I never even hinted at anything close to that.

lol...people here like to do that, its happened to me.  You'll have your argument, have it twisted into its most extreme level.....you'll have it shot down but only when your point is taken at the most extreme.....not the 'meat' of the point you are trying to me.  It happens. If you are going to stay around here get used to it.

We did to that, we traded Savoie for McLeod.

We didn't pick that many undersized forwards. Savoie, Rosen, Östlund, I suppose we could add Benson but he's a different cat. Out of those 3, Savoie was the only truly small guy in terms of height.

The talk of how big some 17 or 18 yr old kid is and how that will translate to NHL success is absurd (not directed at the most esteemed LGR, as I know you have railed against that in the past). I would challenge anyone to notice the on-ice difference between 5'-11" and 174 lbs and 6'-0" 180 lbs.

The two players, in order, listed above - Östlund (minus the fancy O) and one of the greatest defensive forwards to play the game, Patrice Bergeron ...

So, yeah - complaining about the size of 17 yr old kids ... so smart 🙄

For an added bonus, Mike Peca was 5'-11" 183 lbs during his NHL playing career. Get right outta here that Östlund is "too small" ... no time for that!

I agree with your main point.  It would be nice to have a 6'4" 230 lb guy that no one wants to fight on this roster...with him being a good player also. But you can still 'play big' without having the measurables.

Brad Marchand, Sam Carrick, Vincent Trocheck and Max Domi all can play a 'big' game as agitators and they are all 6'0" or under. Same type of players in Sam Bennet and Miles Wood and they are both under 200 lbs and shorter than a guy like Dylan Cozens.

Even Peyton Krebs, all 6 feet tall (being optimistic there) and 180 lbs of him is 3rd among Sabres forwards in hits this year. When he was drafted, he was listed at 5'11" and 170-175 lbs in his draft profile as a 17-18 year old.

Yeah but he was a smallish forward, like Noah Östlund. He was never going to amount to anything.

/s

Quite the blanket statement to make when the Amerks are #1 overall.

Lots of prospects leading the charge.  Oh wait it’s Rosen and a bunch of 28 year olds.

Östlund was listed as 163lb going into the draft.

Also, Bergeron is considerably bigger than what you list. If you can recall him playing with Crosby in 2005 he was by no means small.

I do disagree. Let's just leave it there.

If by a "bunch" you mean 4, including the backup goalie who never plays?  Sure Inky, whatever. 🤣

https://www.eliteprospects.com/team/103/rochester-americans

10 players 22 or younger.  Average age: 24.2.

How many of them have the desire and fortitude to win?  I haven’t seen one player outside of Tyson Kozak that is gonna be a part of any success on the Sabres. They need guys that’ll put you through the end boards.  Maybe Novikov.  But the rest are just like the children on the Sabres. Not cut from a cloth that’s going to win a Stanley Cup.  Draft kids that’s will gut you for a cup.  Not children that are happy to be here.  They need men with issues to take them out on the opposition.  Not kids who hang with their buddies in Aruba in board shorts.

I don’t understand why you defend anything to do with the Sabres.  Worst team in professional sports. It’s not close.  They should be dissolved.  Make it end already.

But here you are everyday still talking about them

You hate this team and yet you hang out here. I guess you feel at home. As for the "will to win" they are the #1 team in the AHL right now. Yes, it's the AHL, right? "Who cares!" NHL players aren't brought by the stork fully developed and dropped off in tax-free states with palm trees. They come from the A.

“Rochester, we love you. Devon Levi has a 16-4-1 record, three shutouts and a 2.03 goals-against-average in his last 21 games with the Amerks.”

This is great to see. Let Levi cook in the AHL. The impressive thing with Leone is that the Amerks are first OA with a ton of young players developing at the same time. And Kulich has played 4 games for them all season.

Really? I thought they were just Isak Rosen and a bunch of 28-year olds! 😂

Feels like Levi himself got humbled this year; he'll be better for it.

Remember last year he came off at times as a guy who was just there for a pit stop before resuming his NHL career. He was civil about it of course but you could tell he was more or less approaching it as a stop gap until we only had him and UPL. He struggled as the back up mightily in the NHL to start this season but went right back to dominate performances in Rochester; however this time he seems to be genuinely embracing the AHL experience instead of just biding his time looking for his next Sabres start.

Winning at any level can only benefit these guys. They need to bring some of that down the highway.

The bolded is the whole point. The stats for PB I listed were when he was drafted. I did miss the part where Östlund's weight had since been updated.

NHL.com had PB at 6'-1" and 196 for his playing career. "Small" by this board's standards.

Helenius has collected two powerplay assists in the 1st vs. Belleville thus far. 3-1 Amerks.

I see he added a goal of his own as well. Östlund with another two apples to stay hot on the stat sheet. And Rosen with three helpers as well.

5 power play goals tonight. They not been very good with the man advantage but pounded them in tonight. I think they went from 33 previously to 38.

Is it me, or do the Amerks have much more fun playing hockey than the Sabres.  Sure winning is a factor, but they just seem to play with more joy and enthusiasm.

They are creating a different culture it seems.

They dominate the opposition. And they know how to score on the power play. 5 last night.
