The point on Östlund is that, from pretty much the day he was drafted, there were AT MOST 1 or 2 roster spots available for an undersized skilled forward. AND, we already had guys like him in the system.

As soon as Benson fell to us in the 2023 draft, Östlund should have been packaged ASAP for a vet with a proven record of playing a strong 200ft game like a Zucker.

This team would be a MUCH different team with another Zucker. I like to think we don't blow all these leads this year with another player like him in the lineup. Maybe we actually win a couple we lost outright too.

Östlund's old linemate Ohgren is on Minnesota's 2nd line tonight.

Ohgren is a 6'1" lw

What a hose job by the refs tonight on the Amerks. After tying the game 2-2 with the goalie pulled, they thought they won in OT. But the officials conferred and ruled goalie interference: no goal.

So it goes to a shootout, 4th round, Phantoms hit the crossbar, ref calls it a goal, Amerks protest, they show the shot on the scoreboard, clear as day, no goal! Refs confer again and upheld the call of a goal. I think everyone wanted to get out of town.

As per always, when our teams can be screwed; we most certainly do.

It’s a little early to be calling him maxed out at the AHL level when he’s 23 and has had 80 pro starts. He also doesn’t smoke darts in the locker room lol

Ahh, the good old days. How I miss the string of first round playoff exits in the 80s. Lol

Rosen with 2 goals

16g, 14a in 34 games this season. He's on pace to hit 60pts so as down on him as we generally are, he's actually getting better every year.

Last season, during his 6-7 game stretch with the Sabres, Rosen's most common linemates were Olofsson, Jost, and Biro.

Matt Coranato was selected by Calgary one spot ahead of Rosen. When the Flames promoted him to the NHL last year, they pretty much always had him with Backlund, or Coleman, or Kadri, or Huberdeau, or two of them. This year he is playing with Backlund and Coleman.

When we recalled Rosen for one game this year, we played him with Cozens and Benson.

That is pretty much the story of the last decade.

Win or lose with the kids has mostly meant lose.

The Flames are the anti-Sabres.  They have so many quality veteran NHL players (not stars, just guys who are experienced and capable), that they can't lose for trying.

Man, the A schedule can sure be a grind at times. Three games in three nights for the Amerks today, topping off with a trip to face the Bears in Hershey. They’re gonna sleep well tonight.

Östlund 3 game point streak and points in 4 of last 5.  Starting to pick it up since starting slow with one goal in his first however many games

We want to talk payoff down the road, Östlund in another 2-3 years is the guy I think of. Needs more garbage plates in his life though.

I've liked his game when I've seen him play.  He's definitely not a passive player
