The Amerks site and different sites have Östlund listed as a left-wing. Does anyone know if he's playing left-wing down there or is he playing center? is he a center or a lw longterm?

He is playing center on the Amerks. Long term who knows? He is getting bigger. Had an injury in late October and worked on fitness during the down time.

In this interview video he looks more physically mature than he was.

Jack Quinn really has me second-guessing my prospect-watching skills, but I always thought Östlund was underrated around here.

I mean I got how people were wary of the size, particularly when the production numbers were very good, not special

But every time I've watched him play he's always been one of the most-notable guys on the ice: He is fast and he plays fast. His processor is next-gen with or without the puck, and he's always around the puck, always hustling.

I mean I brought up the Aho comp the year he was drafted, and they're similar size. Mike Peca had a damn good career as a 5'11" 180-pound centre.

I'm certainly not saying he'll be those guys — I don't know if he'll even be an NHLer — but from what I've seen, he plays the game the right way.

5 goals in 7 games for Brannstrom?

The D-core has really become a strength for the Amerks this season.

Brannstrom and Clague are fringe NHLers who can really skate and move the puck, and Rathbone is cut from the same cloth

Metsa has come into his own to lead the D with 42 points in 61 games.

And Johnson, Novikov and Komarov are all playing regularly as prospects and contributing.

Its a very deep unit.

Brannstrom will be on the Buffalo blueline next year.

NO SHORTIE!

I'm not 100% sold yet.  Some guys just dominate the AHL.

Brannstrom is younger (25 vs 27) and more talented than Bryson and has had more success in the NHL.  Brannstrom has 294 NHL games with 10g, 67a.  Bryson has 251 games with 4g 39a.

Deal. If you are replacing Bryson for him

Östlund scored again (18) and then assisted on Murray’s 25th goal this year.  Amerks are up 2-1 after two.

It took a while for Östlund to get his sea legs, but he been terrific once he figured it out.  Helenius, Östlund and Wahlberg should be an amazing spine for the Amerks next year.

When games matter and they are not 20 points out of a playoff spot, we see how Buffalo plays.

The unfortunate thing is that we still have no idea what the actual potential of this team would be if they ever had to win a game that mattered. We still have to wait a whole year And hope they can get somewhere near eight  in 2026

The point is that they aren’t getting close enough to accumulate those tests

that’s the answer, already

So we really don’t need F additions OR D, really

Like, really. When you stop and think about it

For a little while

I love it.  So many people on this board were low on him.  There were prospect rankings and they would put him so low.

I would still trade him in a McLeod - Savoie style deal. Hopefully his value keeps rising to get us a guy even better than McLeod.

Östlund is a way better prospect than Savoie.

Östlund named the AHL Player of the Week.

3 GP 3-3-6. And it wasn't a five-point game, another game, and a dud in between. He's getting points consistently and he's riding a five-game goal-scoring streak overall.

Dude was billed as a playmaker and he’s got more goals than assists both this year and last.

PLEASE tell me he’s not just another sniper, shoot first centre. Would legitimately be so disheartening

Should go watch his SHL and Allsvenskan tape. Or his Rochester stuff, the game I saw this year he was dishing.
