Novikov is +20.  The next closest D is Metsa at +10.  I know people hate +/-, but when some, especially a D, is dominating that number on a good team that means to me he is doing something right.  (Like actually playing D for instance?)

I'd like to see him get a callup to see how his skating looks in the NHL.

They might want to sign Metsa to an NHL deal while they are at it.

Just got back from the Amerks game. A few things:

Amerks went up 4-1 in the second. Chased the SPR goalie in the process. I was triggered.

Murray was on a line with Östlund. Seeing the two of them next to each other looked like they were playing in a father-son game.

Murray is huge and uses none of his size. Rosen doesn’t appear any bigger than he was a year ago.

7th straight road win and league-leading 14th road win of the season.

I have to hand it to Karmanos, he build a machine in Rochester. They are relentless, none stop forecheck. I watched the game tonight with the Springfield feed and the announcer was saying he hasn't seen such a tenacious group all season. Said they were non-stop.

The Amerks achilles heal is their power play. Ranked 22nd i believe going into tonight's game.

Also, great play at the end for the empty net by Kozak. He couldve tried to shoot at the empty net twice, but decided carry it and muscle for possession, wasting even more time and then once he got freed he made a nice pass to Rousek.

Just to add on he is third in the AHL overall plus minus. Now plus 40 in 97 games. I have said this before plus/minus in the AHL is a good indicator of who is ready to come to the NHL. I don't see the need to bring him up this season unless it is in spot duty. At the very least he should be on the Amerks at the trade deadline so he can be in the playoffs. Now if the Sabres could get a trade for Yan Kuznetsov from Calgary and throw those 2 giant Russians on a shut down pair our end of game worries would be over.

The makeup of the team is similar to last year. If anything, they're younger and less experienced because they lost Mersch, Weissbach, Biro. I honestly think it's Leone. He's a much better coach than Appert.

Having Levi helps a lot too.

Amerks win again 6-3 in Bridgeport to keep the roll going.

Was there. We looked awful and had we been playing any other team besides Bridgeport we would've lost easy. Team looked like they were gassed from the night before and were really sloppy all over the ice but Bridgeport is beyond horrible and has only won once at home in 15 games this season.

As the old saying goes, they don’t ask how, only how many. Ugly wins look the same as beautiful wins in the win column.

It's good to see them still chugging along without Wahlberg or Helenius. From the boxscore, Östlund was back in the lineup tonight, so it's good he's back to health.

Östlund has played in 7 straight games now.

Graham Slaggert scored his league-leading 5th shorthanded goal today.

I also thought Komarov had a strong game. Leone trusted him late in the game as he was on the ice for both of the Amerks empty net goals.

+/- isn't all that.. but being better at it than worse at it still matters.  That's a really good stat.

Oh! Splendid.

How has he looked? Who've been his most common linemates? Still looking smooth and always around the puck? Or does he look like a kid?

(I'm not worried about point production just yet.)

Who is this Fiddler?  He's been tearing it up recently.

UFA who played in ECHL Jacksonville last season. He’s played in the Sabres prospects challenge the past couple of years.

I thought yesterday was the best he's looked since returning in the games i've seen. I think its only a matter of time before it starts to click for him and he goes off.
