WhenWillItEnd66 Posted July 5 Report Posted July 5 Love this trade. You have to give to get ands what we got is what we need. Our 3rd and 4th line are freaking crazy fast and physical. Still think we need a top 6 forward, but still time 1 4 Quote
That Aud Smell Posted July 5 Report Posted July 5 Sabres Twitter obsessed with “winning the trade” or at least getting what they deem fair value. There should be a program where Twitter accounts like that just get spammed with replies from @PASabreFan 6 1 Quote

RochesterExpat Posted July 5 Report Posted July 5 50 minutes ago, GASabresIUFAN said: The Beck Malenstyn was a bad trade value wise. This one seems pretty fair. We received a young but established 6’2 200+ fast NHL center with reasonable cost and control for a very talented but small forward prospect in a league that’s going big again. In Tullio, 22, we also received a solid and still young AHLer who blistered the OHL for 42 goals at 19. Seems like a nice add to our young forwards in the A and he may still have NHL potential. This is my take as well. I guess my personal valuation of Savoie was substantially lower than the seemingly generally accepted value. Malenstyn was a big overpay. This one is a lot closer to even. How often do just-entering-prime bona fide 3C players who are under team control at a low AAV come on the market? Certainly not often enough to gauge a concrete trade value. 3 1 Quote
Palm Trees And Taxes Posted July 5 Report Posted July 5 I like the player we got back, just shocked it took Savoie to get him. Quote

LGR4GM Posted July 5 Report Posted July 5 Östlund is a wild card. Teams will be leary of him because he's not posting huge shl numbers or already in NA. 2 1 Quote

Believer Posted July 5 Report Posted July 5 47 minutes ago, Mustache of God said: reading that's he's laser fast and can actually play defense makes me like the trade . And wins half his faceoffs. Let him teach a couple of our kids. 2 Quote
RochesterExpat Posted July 5 Report Posted July 5 3 minutes ago, inkman said: I’m guessing they, ya know, asked for the better prospect. I don’t think Savoie is a better prospect over Östlund. Östlund projects to be a center. Savoie is going to be a winger. I just think Savoie is held higher because he played in North America and we hear more about him. 3 1 Quote
inkman Posted July 5 Report Posted July 5 There ain’t enough room for the 200 sub 6 foot skill guys we have in the pipeline. This move made my pants get bigger. 2 5 1 Quote
Popular Post Brawndo Posted July 5 Popular Post Report Posted July 5 As @tom webster pointed out the Sabres were looking for a different type of player as their 3C. From a playing style and cost standpoint they found him. 10 1 Quote
Second Line Center Posted July 5 Report Posted July 5 McCleod only played 9 minutes in game 7 and was a minus 2. Buuuuuuut had a goal, was plus 1 and had 10 PIM in game 6. OA averaged 13 minutes of ice time during their STANLEY CUP FINAL run was a minus 7 and had 4 goals, playing in defensive role. Not great not terrible. Did I mention we got a guy that was just in the SCF - something this team really needs to have in the locker room. 9 Quote

Palm Trees And Taxes Posted July 5 Report Posted July 5 Should we be alarmed that the Sabres overall prospect pool is overrated or is this more about perhaps Savoie is the one that was specifically overvalued? Quote
