According to the Oilers, he's a very soft player.

I hate overpaying regardless though; we're being torn a new one on the HFboards

To be fair, HFboards almost always over values prospects.

This board is schizophrenic.

So many people were clamoring for a trade even if we had to overpay.

Now people are complaining that we overpaid.

I suppose the reactions here were to be expected.

Only one negative post that is quoting the Oilers boards and Hfboards

I am surprised that Edm adding Henrique made this kid expendable.  He does seem like an excellent fit for us and Lindy’s new look Sabres.

The more I read on McLeod, the more I like the fit and looking at his AHL and Jr stats I think he might have more offense than he’s shown so far.

I hate to raise this issue, but KA just moved out our smallest forward prospect for a bullet fast 6’2+ 200+ center.

Great deal. Savoie was a bust anyway

There's that thing about knowing your players better than anyone else.

There's also that thing about having too many of the same types of players.

And that thing about the necessity of getting better now.

I liked Savoie, but I think he was more likely to become a Tyler Ennis than a star. Not sure if McLeod can be more than what he is right now.

That's consecutive trades made where Adams "lost value" to "fix his roster"

It's what a lot of people wanted.

As usual, time will tell.

Don’t like giving up on Savoie before we even got to see him play in the pros. Would have rather given up Krebs and a prospect like Ostland.

Keep this in mind next time you’re against trading our first round pick. The pick itself is almost always worth more than the player it drafts.

Go get a top 6 forward now.

He's quick as can be, what's his issue, stick handling? accuracy?

Thank you for the Michael Ryan nightmares I’m going to have tonight.

I don't get why he isn't though; he tore it up in the WHL

Size and injury concerns he has had multiple shoulder injuries going back to his draft year

Here's a somewhat related question, for those well versed in analytics:  shouldn't the "goals above replacement" stat, in the defensive context, be "goals below replacement"?

In any case I'm pretty sure I'm correct in interpreting the various fancystats that have been posted as meaning that McLeod's analytics are good, maybe even very good for the role he's going to play here.

I like the trade so far.  I'll take @tom webster's word for it about Savoie not being highy valued around the NHL, but he still seems to me like a pretty good asset and thus a real price to pay in this deal.  This should be a good barometer of the Sabres' pro personnel aptitude.

I think Savoie is also the first important asset brought in by KA that he subsequently traded (and Taylor Hall does not count IMHO).

If McLeod is good, he's going to be here for a long time.

Go Sabres.

The Beck Malenstyn was a bad trade value wise.  This one seems pretty fair.  We received a young but established 6’2 200+ fast NHL center with reasonable cost and control for a very talented but small forward prospect in a league that’s going big again.  In Tullio, 22, we also received a solid and still young AHLer who blistered the OHL for 42 goals at 19.  Seems like a nice add to our young forwards in the A and he may still have NHL potential.
