Jävə Keith Posted July 4, 2024 Report Posted July 4, 2024 Wow, great to see Bob Sauve. Ah, the memories.... Quote
stenbaro Posted July 4, 2024 Report Posted July 4, 2024 I was at that game. Seems like another lifetime ago. 2 1 Quote
Forecheck Posted July 4, 2024 Report Posted July 4, 2024 (edited) Yep same here. Was at this game in our families season ticket spot, last row of the upper blues. Great view of the ice but zero view of the scoreboard, oranges and above. Lol Sabres had shut out the Habs in games 1 and 2 in Montreal and completed the sweep here in game 3 to win the opening round series 3-0 before heading to the second round for that epic 7 game series with the Bruins that ended in heartbreak with Brad Park in OT in game 7. Pimlach Posted July 4, 2024 Report Posted July 4, 2024 That was another lifetime ago and a much better world to live in. Amazing how few Canadians fans were there. The Sabres had fans, the games were on TV for free, and home games in The Aud were fun. 1 1 1 Quote
Stoner Posted July 4, 2024 Author Report Posted July 4, 2024 Not Uncle Miltie. Interesting. A young Gurtler? Quote
Stoner Posted July 4, 2024 Author Report Posted July 4, 2024 Listen to the PA guy adding some zest to Habs' names, then a little organ accompaniment. Respect. Fun. (Munreal scared the hell out of me even in 1983.) Then they just left the moment alone and let the fans take over. The few seconds it took to get it wound up would, today, be plastered with music and Make Some Nooooliiiiise. Sorry, kids, some things were better then. 4 3 Quote
mphs mike Posted July 4, 2024 Report Posted July 4, 2024 Ted's voice, the Aud, the Sabres in white, and a playoff game - be still my beating heart! 1 1 Quote
Gatorman0519 Posted July 4, 2024 Report Posted July 4, 2024 I miss those days. Way better back then. 1 Quote
JP51 Posted July 5, 2024 Report Posted July 5, 2024 Oh I remember this... back to back shut outs of the Habs in Montreal... epic. 1 Quote

mphs mike Posted July 7, 2024 Report Posted July 7, 2024 I refuse to watch that clip. Probably haven’t seen it since the live version 2 Quote
Stoner Posted July 7, 2024 Author Report Posted July 7, 2024 That was Sabre-y. I don't get why Craig Ramsay basically took himself out of the faceoff just as the linesman was about to drop the puck. A lot of things there that will never be understood. Quote
bob_sauve28 Posted July 7, 2024 Report Posted July 7, 2024 That Brad What's His Ass goal was the first time I suffered Sabre Shock. I just sat there for like five minutes looking at the screen in disbelief 1 Quote

A young Gurtler? it does sound like gurtler. i'm not sure the timing lines up? also, imagine the commotion if sabrespace had existed at the time: perreault moved to wing with mccourt at centre. (Relax, big fella, I'm trying to compliment your steel trap of a mind.) 1 Quote
