Martone is a winger and his shot and overall 200ft game is not as refined as either of these two. Martone revs at lower RPMs. I see Misa as a mix of Jack Hughes and Bedard. 1 Quote

I personally would think someone like Martone and the bigger frame would be a better fit for this team. Too many smaller bodies in the pipeline already. Plus I like that he was wearing the "C" for Team Canada. And Misa wasn't invited to the tournament? Just to clarify, Misa is 6'1" so he's not small. Martone was not team Canada's C at the wjc20. Yager was the Capt. Considering how poorly team Canada did, I think they could have used Misa. Martone had 1a in 3 games. Quote

And you what happens when one assumes!! 😊 And wasn’t Martone Captain of the U-18? Quote

As to Misa, he has the rush and shot game like Bedard. He actually is reminding a bit of better skating Seth Jarvis. Quote

Unless we're talking about two different tournaments. 1 Quote

I'm sorry, you're partially correct. Cam Allen was captain but martone was on 2 u18 teams in consecutive years and was captain after Allen moved on to the u20. So in 2022, Allen is C of u18 In 2023, Martone is C of u18 In 2024, Yager is C of u20 1 Quote

steveoath Posted January 30 Report Posted January 30 I like what I’m reading on Porter Martone. Tkachuk-like. Quote
LGR4GM Posted January 30 Author Report Posted January 30 If we draft 3rd, you want Michael Misa. His engine revs higher and he plays with more pace than Martone. There's more consistency to Misa. Quote
Mr. Allen Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 How does this draft class top 5 compare to other recent years? Quote

From what I have read this draft drops off quite a bit but the top 5 is good. Schaefer seems to be the consensus number 1. He’s very young for this draft so there is extra development time. Not sure if he will be a superstar but he will be an all star. Hagens and Misa are very talented players. Martone has a nice package but I don’t think he is this punishing power forward that some seem to think he is. 1 Quote

Obviously Bedard is better than any of the prospects. But does this class compare at all to Carlsson or Fantilli? Quote

Fantilli, Hagens, Misa, Carlsson, Martone if I had to do it quick. I'd argue that the top of this draft is better than 2024. Edited January 31 by LGR4GM 2 Quote

The big difference is Misa and Hagens don’t have the size that Carlsson and Fantilli do. Not that Hagens and Misa are small per se just not the height and weight that Carlsson and Fantilli bring combined with their skill. Quote

Fantilli is 6'2" 195lbs Misa is 6'1" 185lbs I guess Carlsson (6'3") is bigger and Hagens (5'11") is smaller. Honestly Fantilli and Misa are fairly similar. Edited January 31 by LGR4GM Quote
LGR4GM Posted January 31 Author Report Posted January 31 Actually because all of you keep mentioning size over and over and over. Seth Jarvis and Marco Rossi. That's my counter argument. I think Zach Benson will get there too. Rosek, Östlund, and Savoie do not play hockey the way Jarvis, Rossi, and Benson do. It isn't about just size, it is about fight. This team needs heart and fight. Misa, Martone, both have some snarl to them regardless of their size. Misa is more consistent and his engine revvs higher. I want engine revvs higher over size every day of the week. See Power, Owen or Thompson, Tage for why that is. 1 Quote

Give me the centre. Misa is more explosive but the Sabres haven’t had a natural playmaker like Hagens in a long time. Quote
