I have no problem with them moving Rosen but those thinking he is a bust of some kind are misguided. With his wheels and shot he will play in the NHL. He is pretty sound defensively too.

Kulich is a one trick pony but he does it well and at clutch times.

The only tool Östlund is missing is muscle/weight.

Helenuis is going to turn into a well rounded 2C

“Thing of beauty”,… I mean,… sure. He shot the puck, and it went in. Yes, that’s pretty. We don’t get to see that very often.

But it was a pretty routine play to make a bad angle shot. If he string a couple more dozen of those together, I’ll think it’s “beautiful”.

Like the others who are taking a pause from this site, I might have to, as well. I don’t like how negative it makes me.

Being in a constant negative and environment is exhausting and depleting. I'm not bringing up the issue of whether it is warranted or not (it is) so much that being in the vicinity of so much negativity does have a depressing effect on others. It's simply toxic.

I'm taking it game by game and making a point not to be so immersed in the play. That's what I can control.

Was thinking the same.

He’ll never amount to anything - just like UPL.

(sarcasm)

He's 9th in the Allsvenskan in sv% or 7th if you wanna limit to 10gp. He's 2nd on his team behind a 21yr old with a .935sv% although that's in only 5gp.

He'll need to get faster laterally to work on the NHL.

Hard to know what you have in a goalie til about 24-25. Good to see he is having a good start.

Some people didn’t like the pick so will go out of their way not to be impressed with anything the kid does.😛

Huglen starting his 17th season at Minnesota😜

I didn’t see this one until now. Right as I saw his name I was ready to make that same joke but you beat me to it. Instead I’ll say that it’s a bold strategy to give a C to half your roster.

Other than Huglen who is still in college 🙄 What sticks out to me is Ryan Johnson. I got a lot of pushback when I criticized him a couple of months back. But he’s 23. And was the 31st pick in 2019 and there are a number of younger players drafted in subsequent years - some later in the draft - who are at the NHL level or in the AHL and doing as well or better. And that’s on a mediocre—at best—team. 2 assists. At the AHL level. Not giving up on him but he’s a disappointment imo and not flashing first round value. Or close to it.

Great skater, but a defensive d-man. Mark Pysyk 2.0. Pysyk carved out 500+ NHL games over 11 seasons. I think everyone pretty much wanted Pinto at the time.

Bryson is fine as 7-8, until he's forced to play everyday for 10+ games, but Bryson will go UFA this summer and Johnson is likely to step into that role next year unless they just release him from RFA.

https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/buffalo-sabres/latest-news/six-sabres-prospects-confirmed-for-upcoming-world-junior

The Buffalo Sabres confirmed what was expected on Monday when they reassigned AHL forwards Konsta Helenius and Anton Wahlberg to enable them to play for their respective countries at the upcoming 2025 IIHF World Junior Championships in Ottawa starting on Thursday.

Helenius was selected 14th overall by the Sabres at the 2024 NHL Draft in Las Vegas and played for Finland last season at the Under-18s, the 2024 World Juniors in Sweden, and the World Championships. The 18-year-old has 17 points (6 goals, 11 assists) in 28 games for the Rochester Americans and is expected to center the Finns' top line.

Wahlberg, 19, played for Sweden at the WJC in Gothenburg alongside Amerks teammate Noah Östlund and has 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) in 25 AHL games this season.

Buffalo will have six prospects participating in the tournament, as Helenius and Wahlberg are joined by Sabres draftees Adam Kleber and Brodie Ziemer (USA), Maxim Strbak (Slovakia), and Norwin Panocha (Germany).

The opening day of the tournament on Boxing Day will feature Wahlberg and Sweden going head-to-head with Slovakia and Strbak in his fourth and final World Junior, Kleber and Ziemer with the US matching up against Panocha’s Germany, and the Finns with Helenius taking on host Canada.

Zeimer having a good game against the Germans for team USA with 2 goals so far.

Perfect example of its not about size but about grit.

Hagens looked very talented

Where does he project to the NHL?  Will he be a wing or center?  He is also 5'11 178.  Does he have grit to his game?

If he projects as a winger I'm much less interested.

Center, think Jack Hughes. He's got a really well developed 2-way game and I'd say he's physical like Peterka, so he'll engage but he's not tossing hits and really going after guys. I'd say Martone/Misa are the most physical followed by Schaefer and then Hagens. He'll go to the dirty areas if you're asking that.
