Brawndo Posted July 8 Report Posted July 8 Joel Farabee was a topic of discussion on the latest Maintenance Day Episode released today. The Sabres have good insight into the player he is as Seth Appert coached him at the USNDTP. Joe Yerdon interviewed Appert in 2018 about Farabee and Seth raved about him. What peaked my interest is the rumored acquisition cost. Lance Lysowski mentioned the league knows about the Flyers interest in Peyton Krebs as they do not have center depth. Couple that with Michov knocking Farabee down the depth chart and Philadelphia needing to clear cap space a deal centered around Krebs and Farabee makes sense. Lysowski mentioned Krebs, Clifton and 2025 2nd for Farabee 2 3 Quote

(As noted by you.) What's apparent is that there are still deals to be had before camp begins. Quote

He was both a cherry on top of an already great team as well as either their best or at least 2nd best player. It was akin to mess of Lego bricks needing a specific piece to build the entire thing while the pieces alone could still be great nonetheless. Eichel put them over the top by being a larger base rather than a taller peak piece 1 hour ago, Brawndo said: Joel Farabee was a topic of discussion on the latest Maintenance Day Episode released today. Would require Joki sticks it through though good to know we know the player well Edited July 8 by triumph_communes Quote

GASabresIUFAN Posted July 8 Report Posted July 8 Why not sign Daniel Sprong at this point? The guy has had back to back 40+ pt seasons scoring 39 goals over the two campaigns. He made $2 mill last year and it seems a discount amount for a 40 pt player. Is his issue that he's a less talented version of Skinner? I haven't his D metrics, but he seems to be a dangerous EV scorer. Quote

His possession metrics are questionable. He isn't particularly hard on the forecheck, and without knowing, probably isn't part of that Fast/Physical/Ferocity package that all the rest of their recent signings hint at. I think they probably like Greenway at 3 RW over a guy like Sprong. Quote

Im not sure unless you can back good value, sometimes guys grow out of the injury bug... at this point given the alternatives imo bubble wrap him first half of the season. Quote

Mr. Allen Posted July 8 Report Posted July 8 What about this Rutger McGroarty guy? We’re looking to get bigger and tougher to play against. He fits that style. Would it even make sense to go after him? What would the offer have to look like for a prospect like him? Rosen plus? Quote

There's the period where all the depth guys get waived at the beginning of the season before they go down to the minors. Scoop up someone like another Bryson then. Quote

He reportedly only wanted to be traded to a team that had an immediate NHL spot for him, but just as long as it wasn’t in Buffalo. And there may be others on the list. He actually sounds like a more talented version of Vesey. 1 Quote

Night Train Posted July 9 Report Posted July 9 On a side note, when did the Hockey News become a clickbait site ? Every day, they have a "rumor" of the Sabres interested in a different player. Seems baseless. Quote

LTS Posted July 9 Report Posted July 9 2 hours ago, Night Train said: On a side note, when did the Hockey News become a clickbait site ? Most sports sites have opted into hiring aspiring media people to manage a team or teams for the overall site. If you look at Hockey News you will find that https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/buffalo-sabres/author/michael-derosa is your editor for Buffalo, Boston, and Tampa. My suspicion is that each of the editors are tracked on how many eyeballs they can pull to the site on a daily basis so that Hockey News can pull in ad revenue. I would imagine an editor could easily use any number of searches on a routine basis to grab anything posted on the Internet and perhaps even go so far as to have AI summarize the daily news related to a team and then use that as an article. In that way, even we could influence what is being written as our conversations here are easily searchable and collected. Of course you could also look at Sports Illustrated's debacle from earlier this year. - https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opinion/sports-illustrated-layoffs-iconic-magazine-end-of-era-rcna134820. There are some interesting tidbits in the reported use of AI to write articles on the site, etc. Finally there is also a site called Hockey Writer's that I often see come up in news aggregators and I don't know the quality of it but often I confuse it with Hockey News. Bottom line.. it's about ad revenue and remaining relevant so click bait is the name of the game. Quote
