I read on here he has a GF in Nashville.  If so, no state tax, a great city for someone his age.

He could wear a cowboy hat and chaps to a dance club and not look out of place.

Over the course of ten plus years, Jeff Skinner has gone from one of least favorite players in the entire league to being my “favorite” Sabre. I get why people are ready to move on, but for me the ride has taught me a lot about change and growth. All the best to him.

It took me over a season to christen a “favorite” player after Reinhart left. It will probably take me a similarly long amount of time this go around. If Krebs puts up 40 points this year, something tells me it’ll be him. I think he’s going to have at least a Paul Byron-esq career, but I doubt his first good year is here.

The responses to that post and to the following post are hilarious.

I was surprised when people on here pushed back when I said this would be a controversial move among the larger fan base.

Never mind the obvious "bad team cuts 30-goal scorer" response.

He was a popular personality.

What is a 'pure' goal scorer.  And is 24 goals what to expect from one?

One down year in a year when everyone on the team was down. Smart move would be to let him bounce back and if he doesn’t then you buy him out.

A Shakespearean Sonnet for Jeff Skinner from Google's AI:

In Buffalo's heart, a tale of woe unfolds,
Of Skinner's dream, once bright, now bought and cold.
A promised land, a winger strong and bold,
Yet seasons passed, and glory's cup withheld.

The cheers arose, when first his skates did grace
The frozen pond, a hope to win the race.
But fleeting were the highlights, fleeting pace,
And empty nets did mock his scoring chase.

Nine million chimes, a contract's heavy weight,
A discordant note within the game's sweet play.
The fans did sigh, their patience wearing thin,
And farewell songs they sang at season's end.

Now freed he is, to seek a different win,
While Buffalo bids adieu to 'might have been'.

Its a year too soon unless that money is being used on solid UFA or type of trade and sign for Ehler

So we all putting on money on whatever team he signs with to win the cup right ? 🙂

Would agree it's 1 year too early from a cap point of view.

But if Ruff thought he couldn't get Skinner to buy into the system, and it sure does look that way, then you get him off the team to have everyone pulling in the same direction.

They expect they'll be better off without him in the long run.

And if they do bring in Kane & say Eriksson Ek tomorrow, they're in a better space than they were.  See this move 100% as them making the team stronger in 2 of the 3 zones.

This is not a good idea.

Agree to disagree.

Some team is going to be very happy to sign a 30  goal scorer, This move only makes sense if we got 2-3 good UFA targets waiting to sign.

A former 30 goal scorer.

While I'm sure we'll all miss his personality, we'll do well without the passes to nobody, the overextended shifts, and the awful d-zone play of Skinner.  Lindy would have benched him in the first game.  He drove me nuts.

But what is a pure scorer? That's what I was asking.

I wouldn't have bought out Skinner until next summer. Lowers the cap penalty and you get another year for the young guys to develop. If Adams doesn't use the cap saving, this move was trash. You now need 30g and 30a replaced plus you need add to that total overall.
