Peace Frog Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 If you look back on this entire series, Buffalo has been fairly lucky to have won three games so far. I know, I know....."Whaddaya mean lucky? We earned those wins..." Let's be realistic here. Buffalo has been outshot in every game up until tonight's game. They've been outhustled the majority of the time. We've taken advantage of some bad Ottawa passes, poor individual decisions by their defense, and we've been fortunate that they don't have a healthy Hasek in net. Where am I going with this? I wanted a sweep just as much as everyone else, but I'm also realistic. Ottawa is still a damn good team and if Buffalo is to win this series, we have to play them like we're the ones on the brink of elimination in order to finish them off. Personally, I think an occasional loss is good for Buffalo because it tends to light a fire under their ass and makes them remember how much it sucks to lose. Besides, if we eliminate Ottawa, we will move on to play Carolina (probably) and I'd hate for us to go into their rink with a cocky attitude (we swept Ottawa, na, na....na, na, na); the 'Canes could probably hand our to us if the hockey stars are aligned just right. Just look at tonight's loss as a wakeup call; the Sabres must play 60 minutes of hockey in order to keep our Cup dream alive.
frisky Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 Jesteś pojebany. What does that mean? Well I'm not sure how much rest they will get with travel included. Although I didn't see the game (as usual), I heard they looked they ran out of gas. Let's hope that they can put it away soon.

mrjsbu96 Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 It means 'I am f***ed'. I guess he didn't agree with my assessment. for what is is worth, i agreed with most of your assessment except for the part about being outhustled. i don't think we have been outhustled for most of the series, except ironically for last night. any possession/shot advantage in the previous games was just due to talent, but we never stopped working. but i do agree that a loss may actually be a good thing. it would only be human nature to become a little complacent and develop a cocky attitude going in to the next series and this is a nice reminder - while still enjoying a two game advantage - that we have to continually remember how we got here. on another note, i can't wait to go out this weekend and use that phrase on people talking on cell phones, obnoxious drunks and Senator fans! :)

The literal meaning is You're f*cked, as in the head, as in you're freaking looney toons. for what is is worth, i agreed with most of your assessment except for the part about being outhustled. i don't think we have been outhustled for most of the series, except ironically for last night. any possession/shot advantage in the previous games was just due to talent, but we never stopped working. but i do agree that a loss may actually be a good thing. it would only be human nature to become a little complacent and develop a cocky attitude going in to the next series and this is a nice reminder - while still enjoying a two game advantage - that we have to continually remember how we got here. on another note, i can't wait to go out this weekend and use that phrase on people talking on cell phones, obnoxious drunks and Senator fans! :) When I say we've been outhustled, I mean that it appears as if the action is mostly in our end, mostly. It also means that we're being outworked when we're on the powerplay, as evidenced by our 2 for 19 stat. It also means that we're having trouble clearing our own zone. Now we can assume that Ottawa would probably be a stiffer challenge to us than Carolina, but I'm the kind of person who thinks that the playoffs usually get tougher the deeper you advance. Not only would I like the Swordsman to finish off the Senators tomorrow night, but I'd also like to see them correct some of their problems while doing it.

I get your point, but to be glad that we didn't sweep the Sen's? That's like saying - Boy, I'm glad that Norwood didn't make that kick! Let me explain why....Or.... I'm glad that last goal in the Buffalo/Dallas series wasn't overturned, because we might have won the Cup!? Ridicules!!! Jeff

Yet, it is only good if the Sabres win the series... Ideally a 4-2 Sabres win in the series would be ideal... Of course if we could call it, that is the way I would have it... I think that is what he means... IF the Sabres go on to take the series, throwing that loss in there (not series deciding game, unlike "No Goal" or even "Wide Right"... Those were for all the marbles) makes your next opponent a little more complacent and keeps YOU skating every other day in real game situations, IMO.
sabres703 Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 dudes only two teams have won four in a row since 75 so i think were ok

I'm not glad we lost but I sort of agree with the general tone of your post. No way Buffalo was going to sweep Ottawa. I'm still thrilled to be up 3-1 but I have to admit, I'll be nervous as he!! if it comes back to BUffalo for game 6. Hockey is just one of those games where you can outplay your opponent but a hot goalie can give the outplayed team a victory. Miller has to put on a show tonight or we won't win. It's that simple. When a team makes a cup run it always has some adversity. Nothing is easy so in that regard if Buffalo needs a game 6 or 7 to finish them off then it will make us stronger. If for some reason Emery gets hot, Alfredsson and Heatley begin to score and Ottawa wins 4 in a row.....then they deserve to go to the Semi's. Really if Ottawa wins the series then they are clearly the better team and we Buffalo fans shouldn't feel bad (even though we will!). Let's just win tonight and end this thing.!
