I don’t doubt that he called at least ten guys. I doubt that he seriously interviewed more then two or three.

I got laid off from a position and six years later they rehired me based on a fifteen minute phone call.

I don't believe he is lying about interviewing 10+ people; perhaps he didn't interview 10 guys in depth but if 4 of them had the wrong persona and he didn't pursue further.
