I'm shocked (ok not really). At least he is a good coach. If he had no history in Buffalo, but had his track record, people would be very happy with the hire. I was for getting someone new here like Berube or Gallant, but they may have been looking to see what else opened up. Ruff at least wants to be here. All in all we could have done a lot worse. He also knows how to not only win but gets the most out of his players. Now as others have stated, getting the right staff will be vital. I believe that with the talent assembled, this team is geared for an open, offensive game. We also need to pick the right Captain, or bring one in. Here are what I feel should be the main focus regarding Lindy's supporting cast of coaches: PP Specialist Faceoff Specialist PK Specialist CLEARING THE PUCK OUT OF YOUR OWN ZONE SPECIALIST!! What's his record since leaving Buffalo? Quote

gomper Posted April 22 Report Posted April 22 Unreal. I give up. Good luck Lindy. I'm speechless. So much for an exhaustive search. This organization... 3 1 1 Quote
Weave Posted April 22 Report Posted April 22 Welp. Let’s see how it rolls….. KA has a career riding on this. If Lindy fails I don’t see KA working as a GM in the NHL again. 4 5 1 Quote
French Collection Posted April 22 Report Posted April 22 I thought they might go in a different direction. Lindy fits the experience part of KA’s thinking. He wants to be in Buffalo. As others noted, I want to see some quality assistants to round out a solid group. Good luck Lindy! 7 1 1 Quote

BuffalOhio Posted April 22 Report Posted April 22 Must be that Roddy told Kevin he's staying in Carolina, so Lindy was snapped up. 1 Quote

You know, obviously we knew he was available at the end of the season and then when we moved on from Donnie that was one of the first calls I made. We know what he brings to this organization and we’re confident he’s the man to lead this team back to the playoffs.” -Kevyn, probably. 4 Quote
WhenWillItEnd66 Posted April 22 Report Posted April 22 Ughhhhhh i am NOT a fan of this. This is a shortsighted crap lazy decision. This organization is a joke and i am glad there are 31 other teams to watch. FU Adams you idiot. 1 1 Quote

Adams had a plan in place and 4 watchwords: experienced, structured, accountable, immediately available. Of the candidates he listed: Woodcraft and Evason aren't that experienced, Boudreau and Gallant aren't that structured, Brind'Amour and Quenville (probably, for well-known reasons) aren't immediately available. That leaves Ruff and Berube. I don't know of any connection between Kevyn and Berube, or anything to feed the sense that he's a target Kevyn feels he can speak about with the kind of directness and certainty that Kevyn used yesterday. Lindy, on the other hand, is someone he knows well and has worked together with. Lindy is also someone who can not only fire up the players, he can fire up a moribund fan base. He's also won with youngsters and plays the uptempo style Adams prefers. What has Kevyn preached from day one? Passion for the jersey and for the city, people who want to be here and to win for the people of Buffalo. Nobody epitomizes the Adams checklist like Lindy Ruff, it's not even close. It's coming. Even a broken clock.... 6 1 Quote

I'll take it further: If Lindy fails, the franchise will implode. Complete teardown to the studs, new electricity, new plumbing. Endless tanks, cats and dogs living together.... ugh. Quote

It's up to Adams to get us the assets to fill in the blanks to get us a cup. I'm very elated Lindy is back. 2 1 1 Quote
