Jesus dude, i know im a ruff fanboy, but not sure what is wrong with this hire and seems to me it gives the fanbase more oxygen than last 6 years.

Berube and Gallant amongst a few others did have interviews with the Sabres via zoom the past few days

It would not surprise me if Adams mentioned Ruff replacing Granato in season, but was rebuffed by Pegula

Ellis is not guaranteed a spot behind the bench

One member of the staff will be a coach in waiting as mentioned before.  Appert is my guess.

If it was Peca, I doubt Lavy or the Rangers would block him from moving.

Ruff will spend a lot of time around the Amerks over the next few weeks getting know the prospects as well as Appert.

And @Thorny if this does go south, your prediction will come true next offseason.  That’s a reason why Adams hired Lindy he knows they can work together.

So how come you think it wouldn’t be the 2 years you had suggested previously?

I’m glad they share my timeline

I’m a reasonable man

..Shut up

If it was anyone else but Lindy, it would have been two years.
Lindy could easily be moved into an advisory role as Pegula trusts him.
The same could not have been said about other hires

I do think it's now playoffs or bust for Adams next season. I could even see a scenario where, should it fail badly, Adams gets fired and Ruff stays in an interim capacity where he eventually moves into an upper advisory role after helping handle a transition to a new GM and possibly new coach.

But I am hoping we never find out and are talking playoffs this time next year instead.

Insider info, or has this been reported somewhere?

While it’s underwhelming because of the past connection as well as nostalgia factor; I also feel confident Lindy will find a way to grind this team to the playoffs or die trying. Next will be to see what assistants he brings in and roster moves.

What will you wear to his funeral?

A coach who has “fans” who are going to take banners to the arena and describe themselves as fanboys only proves my point. It was unbearable at the end and it’s going to be unbearable moving forward. The people cheering for the head coach and not the team will prove that to be the case.

He'll get moved up in the organization next year when Adams is (deservedly) fired.

Nah, they’re gonna bring Darcy back.

He’s the only VO I know. And it was a totally tongue in cheek comment, btw. VO strikes me as Lindy’s least favorite type of player.

Hopefully Jeff Skinner is also that

If Lindy can fire up this team like he did in this game, I am in.  Watching him go over (through?) the glass to get at the opposing coach is one of my favorite Sabres moments of all time.

Don't expect Lindy to be doing that on beta blockers...

Right but for one reason or another I do not buy that just because Granato got fired that grants Adams an additional two years. You could can Adams and keep the coach. Or you could re-assign the coach to a hockey ops position to save face

There is only one Skinner.  Lindy will tolerate very little.

Looking forward to Skinner’s next comedy interview video. Ha!

So you're OK with 13 years of losing, no Playoffs, hiring all kinds of Coaches and doing it all over again with people we don't know.

That is what you are saying RIGHT?

How STUPID!!!

Ruff knows Buffalo

He will end the 13 years of NO PLAYOFFS

What happens after that is Bonus right at this moment.

We will know what the future is when they Hire the Assistants and the Roster structure over the Summer.

I expect Pretty soon the players NOT wanted back will be told, SEE YA!

Who is more about HOCKEY than Lindy Ruff

63 and been around it since he was a KID

Your comment is just STUPID

In NJ last year he was in the Playoffs with a very young team. The were 2nd I believe in the Conference. They won the 1st Round

That is NOT a has been!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well the last 3 hasn't with their HIRES

Both of these are obnoxious.

Do not communicate like this here.

My 2 cents:

- I was kinda hoping for someone who was both new and accomplished, and I’m worried that this will be yet another great Buffalo hockey thing that this organization manages to turn into poop, but still:  I freaking love Lindy.

- I am very confident that Lindy will get them into the playoffs next year as long as UPL wasn’t a one-year wonder, and I’m certain he would’ve gotten them in this year.

- I too am curious to see how it goes with Skinner.  I will be very surprised if they buy him out this summer.

- They are going to be a lot better and fun to watch.

Go Sabres.

I’ve heard some stuff

Did the conversation go anything like below?

Given the parameters Adams laid out and given the available coaches, how long do you think such a search would take...weeks? It's more likely Adams (Terry) had Lindy in mind since Lindy was let go by NJ. Still, all Adams had to do was make two or three calls that all went like "hey, XXXXX, I'm sure you heard the news. Interested? Yeah. No. Okay, thanks, see you around."

"Looks like Lindy is our guy, Terry."

That would take all of a morning before leaving for an early lunch.
