Game notes: This thing is going to come right down to the wire.

The Red Wings made their own bed when they lost seven straight games from Feb. 29-March 14, giving away their stronghold on a playoff position. Since then, the Wings haven't played their best hockey, but they've stabilized. But stable hasn't been good enough against their brutal schedule lately. The Wings are just 4-11-4 since Feb. 28, including Friday night's tough loss to the New York Rangers, and now are on the outside looking in for the playoffs. However, the Wings got a good break in the standings with a loss by the Washington Capitals Friday night.

Would love to see Sabres beat the Wings and Kane and make it harder for Detroit to get to playoffs. The measuring stick for Detroit picking up Kane was to make the playoffs. Just saying it would be nice.....

If the Sabres had picked up Kane it would have improved their woeful power play and may have made the difference in making the playoffs.

i was pretty agnostic about Kane to Buffalo, but if the Sabres did make an attempt to sign him and he chose Detroit because he liked the chances there better, I hope Detroit goes down in flames.

Not that he was necessarily wrong, though. LOL

He made the right decision at the time.  Detroit did (and still does for the moment) have a better chance. I think he decided with Detroit for more reasons than them having a better chance. The Sabres are a ***** show on and off the ice and everyone knows it  that’s why you don’t see any big signings for them
