bob_sauve28 Posted March 27 Report Posted March 27 (edited) I'm not sure on tv schedule, though The Ottawa Senators face the Buffalo Sabres with both teams looking to wrap up rough seasons strong. The Senators have a 30-36-4 record which is the second-worst in the Atlantic Division but they've won back-to-back games. The Sabres have a 34-33-5 record and with only five wins in their last 10 games, they have the third-worst record in the Atlantic Division. Both teams look to improve in the division and the Eastern Conference and the upcoming game should be a good one. Our hockey experts are ready to melt the ice! Don’t miss our NHL Premium Picks! Senators defense has let them down this year The Senators are having a rough season despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.17 goals per game with 10 goals in the last two games. Tim Stutzle, Claude Giroux, and Brady Tkachuk have scored 60 goals and 120 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Drake Batherson, Mathieu Joseph, and Ridly Greig have combined for 47 goals and 66 assists while defensemen Jakob Chychrun and Jake Sanderson have added 19 goals and 46 assists from the point to open up the offense. The offense has been great but the defense has let the Senators down this season, allowing 3.56 goals per game. Jake Sanderson and Artem Zub have combined for 6.2 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. In addition, goaltender Joonas Korpisalo has struggled with a .888 save percentage and a 3.33 goals-against average on 1291 shots with -19.4 goals saved above average. The Senators have won two games in a row but the Sabres look to step up on their home ice and take over this one. The Sabres should constantly find the back of the net against the Senators, who allow 3.56 goals per game, with Alex Tuch, Tage Thompson, and the rest of the forward unit carrying the puck into the offensive zone and creating open shots with quick passes. The Sabres, who allow only 2.99 goals per game, should limit the Senators' offense with Owen Power, Rasmus Dahlin, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen to make plenty of big saves. The Sabres should win the game with a strong performance on their home ice. The Sabres are led by their defense and both defensive units look to step up and take over this game from the first period. The Senators should limit the Sabres offense, which averages only 2.97 goals per game, with Jake Sanderson, Artem Zub, and the rest of the defensive unit creating turnovers in the defensive zone and limiting shots on the net, allowing goaltender Joonas Korpisalo to make plenty of big saves. The Sabres look to build off a game where they only allowed one goal and eliminate the Senators offense with Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power, Connor Clifton, and the rest of the defensive unit forcing turnovers in the neutral zone and defensive zone while goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen blanks the shots on the net. The Under should cover in a low-scoring game with both defenses stepping up. Edited March 27 by bob_sauve28 1 2 Quote

WhenWillItEnd66 Posted March 27 Report Posted March 27 Happy for a 7PM game, and hoping for no west coast lag. I know playoffs is a dream but still want them to kick some ass in the last 10 games! 4 1 Quote

Flashsabre Posted March 27 Report Posted March 27 “Obviously, we want to love playing here,” center Dylan Cozens said after practice Tuesday. “We want the fans to love watching us play here and it makes it so much easier for both sides when we just get to play good hockey at home. So we want to continue doing that and get these fans on our side." Yikes 1 1 Quote

Mustache of God Posted March 27 Report Posted March 27 Maybe win? Coming off a win to start a homestead against one of the few teams worse than us? On paper this feels like a loss. However, a win keeps the faint spark of hope alive as we crawl to the finish line of the season. I predict a win. Quote

I'd like to see betting marketing material, betting ads on tv, print ads, and of course those awful betting shows on the radio with Vinny from New Jersey telling me how much money I can make sports better if I just give him a call....I'd like all of that shot into the Sun never to be seen again (especially on weekends when I turn on the radio just looking for a little weekend morning sports talk and I get the betting shows). But, I have come to the conclusion fighting those things is a batter that cannot be won. Quote

Playing at home has been toxic because of how long they sucked at it. They made the bed and now they are sleeping in it. I guess he could have made the generic canned athlete schlock telling the reporters how much they love playing at home, hockey good, Buffalo good, me no good. 1 hour ago, PASabreFan said: Just a personal preference but I'd like to see betting marketing material kept off this site. I think intelligent people realize that gambling is a sham. They don’t build $100 million dollar casinos because the house is losing. 3 1 Quote

The quote shows his youth, and it also reflects on the type of leadership and the kind of comments he hears from whoever the leaders are or were. It is awkward, but obviously he feels the divide between the team and the fanbase. The divide is still there in the area, in the community, and on this forum. I guess I took for granted the real love for this team that the community once had. All it took was great leadership at the top, a real commitment to winning, and some good players that were fun to watch. 1 Quote
Stads Posted March 27 Report Posted March 27 I hope Quinn plays to give this game a little juice. If not, my feelings are: Quote

It's not like my dad gambled away the xmas money or anything. Must be my Panglossian tendencies. I had a couple brief, unsuccessful encounters with gambling. It was early in life when I didn't have the money to gamble and didn't wager much. But what I found is that my limited funds evaporated very quickly. Some people say they know that overall they won't win but they see it as "entertainment". For me, watching my money disappear is not entertaining. So I've never really had much interest in gambling. I don't have anything against people who gamble so long as they're responsible about it, but it's just not interested in it myself. At first I hated the gambling segments during Sabres coverage, now I just tune them out like a commercial (which is basically what they are). EDIT: Most amazing gambling thing I ever saw was in a near-empty casino in Bristol, UK, while on a business trip. We just walked through it to take a look. One of the guys with us said, "Watch this" and put a bet down on one number in the roulette table. No one else was at the table. They spun the wheel and he won. He said the number was the date of the first date with his wife and it hits more often than not.... but only if he plays it once and walks away. 😮 Edited March 27 by Doohickie 2 Quote
K-9 Posted March 27 Report Posted March 27 Glad Quinn is deemed healthy enough to return to the lineup, but realistically, how much can we expect from him after a two month layoff? My bet is not very much. Quote
