Yeah - this new COO's role could be more strategic than operational.

That said, I remain curious: Who's actually employing him? Like, where's his W-2 (or where are his W-2s) coming from at tax time?

Do they not have an LLC (or whatever the appropriate term is) anymore?

He would actually be the perfect person for the new roof.

They dissolved Pegula Sports and Entertainment and were clear that, as a result, the Bills and Sabres were being spun off from one another. I'm unaware of there being another parent/holding company in Pegula Land.

Imagine how much the team would save on alcohol costs? Just turn on the tap water...boom wine!

Anybody notice that Yuengling has been sponsor a bunch of Sabres social media posts lately? Fairly significant since AB is the official beer of the league and Labatt has been the official beer of the Sabres. I would assume that means Labatts spending is down, allowing other private breweries to start taking ad space. Not to mention the Pegula's manage two sports teams, losing one makes it much easier to lose the other.

Labatt isn't doing well. I think they are in serious jeopardy. They basically only sell meaningful volume in WNY. They lost Josh Allen as a sponsor because they actually no-called/no-showed to a meeting. That is how he ended up with Corona. There is not a brand of any size in the country that would no-call/no-show a Josh Allen meeting.

They also laid off 70+ employees in the last few months.

Interesting. Does Labatt not sell much in Canada? Or is your comment above directed only to Labatt USA?

It's funny. Labatt Blue Light is arguably the beer of the online Bills fan community. Brother Bill has made sure of that.

They are two different companies with two different owners entirely.

Labatt USA is owned by FIFCO which is owned by Cerveceria Costa Rica S.A.

Labatt Canada is owned by Inbev/Anheuser-Busch. The sale was forced when InBev merged with AB. They are not brewed in the same place, controlled by the same people, nor share any funding/financials. There are zero meetings between Canadian and US leadership.

Thanks. So you’re talking about Labatt USA?

Correct.

Labatt USA is looking to sublease its space at Perry Street. Looks like a death spiral.

Labatt USA still owns Genny, innit?  I hope that doesn’t bode ill for the fine folks at the high falls brewery.

Not really. Labatt USA is a brand under a larger umbrella which also owns Genny. FIFCO is the parent company. I can tell you that genesee beer has a mild following as a large craft brewery at least as far as Georgia.

They seem to be consolidating some things judging by the Rochester investment the state is making. Sounds like genesee is doing good.

Good to hear that Genny is still solid and doing well.   Don't love the beer, but its ok.   Being a boomer, I grew up on Genny and Genny Cream (we called it Green Death).  We didn't have all the wonderful craft beers of today back then.

A few years ago, quite a few years ago actually, my son and I went to visit my nephew at RIT.  We went to the House of Guitars and then to the Genny Brewery for fresh Genny and a nice sandwich for lunch.   They had a Pale Ale that was only available on the premises that day.  It was really good  and a great day overall.

Re: Yuengling, I spoke to somebody in the know the other day and they said that the cost to sponsor the Bills/Sabres has gone up quite a bit and Labatt can't afford/won't pay it. They are also losing placements in the Ralph.

I was just talking about this the other day. There is some speculation that eventually Seagrams (malted beverages) could get sold off in the future and then all things Labatt would just move to Rochester.
