They dissolved Pegula Sports and Entertainment and were clear that, as a result, the Bills and Sabres were being spun off from one another. Fairly significant since AB is the official beer of the league and Labatt has been the official beer of the Sabres. I would assume that means Labatts spending is down, allowing other private breweries to start taking ad space. Not to mention the Pegula's manage two sports teams, losing one makes it much easier to lose the other. Labatt isn't doing well. I think they are in serious jeopardy. They basically only sell meaningful volume in WNY. They lost Josh Allen as a sponsor because they actually no-called/no-showed to a meeting. That is how he ended up with Corona. There is not a brand of any size in the country that would no-call/no-show a Josh Allen meeting. They also laid off 70+ employees in the last few months. Labatt USA is owned by FIFCO which is owned by Cerveceria Costa Rica S.A. Labatt Canada is owned by Inbev/Anheuser-Busch. The sale was forced when InBev merged with AB. They are not brewed in the same place, controlled by the same people, nor share any funding/financials. Labatt USA is a brand under a larger umbrella which also owns Genny. FIFCO is the parent company. I can tell you that genesee beer has a mild following as a large craft brewery at least as far as Georgia. They seem to be consolidating some things judging by the Rochester investment the state is making. Don't love the beer, but its ok. Being a boomer, I grew up on Genny and Genny Cream (we called it Green Death). We didn't have all the wonderful craft beers of today back then. A few years ago, quite a few years ago actually, my son and I went to visit my nephew at RIT. We went to the House of Guitars and then to the Genny Brewery for fresh Genny and a nice sandwich for lunch. They had a Pale Ale that was only available on the premises that day. They are also losing placements in the Ralph. I was just talking about this the other day.
