Who's better, Dahlin or Byram?

Seems to be the hot topic even though, imo, it's easily Dahlin.

Too soon for me to say. But looks like Byram has better offensive skills. Thought it could be partly because, well...Colorado. But, in his few games with the Sabres, he's on a higher PPG avg. Have to see more though.

Dahlin has more talent, not by a large amount though. Byram is more aggressive in the O zone, but I think Dahlin had to pick his moments, given the poor D they played.  I think we'll start to see a more aggressive Dahlin now as they gain more experience together.

This is a tough question. Given the small sample I say they’re tied. Dahlin has the creativity, puck control, and vision. Byram has more offensive IQ. Byram actually seems to be quarterbacking PPs even with Dahlin on the ice.

Defensively, Dahlin is more physical and composed. Byram is more tenacious.

I didn’t realize people were seriously thinking Byram is better than Dahlin.

Dahlin is a better player.  He’s just been surrounded by awful coaching and mediocrity it’s worn on him  

 

Byram is bringing in the leadership we need most right now though.

Seriously small sample size but Bo’s aggressive play is well received .  If Dahlin had Bo’s aggression he would be approaching the generational label we were hammered with.

It's interesting how draft position influences opinions.  They were both #1 D overall. 

Dahlin over Tkachuk and Q Hughes.

Byram after Jack Hughes.  

So since Dahlin is/was #1 overall expectations are so much higher?  And Byram is behind best D in the league for several years limiting his minutes and role both in terms of need, expectations, opportunities.  

I think it's a very fair question.  Let's see what it looks like at this point next year.  Good problem to have!

Dahlin, not particularly close 

He’s 9th in D scoring and has tied a career high in goals, and I know the expectations for him are rightfully high, but it’s a good sign of a player’s ability when he’s putting up that sort of production and it’s basically a footnote
