MillerTyme Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 "Why does their shot go in and our shot go off the post?" said a shell-shocked Spezza Awwww ... feeling sorry for themselves and whining. Did he forget that the Sabres rang what? At least 3 off the post last night ... AND how about that dandy carom off the board for his first, and game tying goal. Typical Sens response after the game ... looking for excuses and feeling sorry for themselves when simply the Sabres have more heart .... MORE HEART = MORE BREAKS! That said ... finish this up tonight boys .... still worried that if any team can make a comback its the Sens. Dont give me any more of a heart attack than Ive already had! GO SABRES!!!

What is this guy talking about. Was he not on the ice in the 1st when Buffalo hit the pipe about 4 times??

Hopefully he and the rest of the Otters ARE feeling sorry for themselves. IF they are, Buffalo can go in for the kill and encounter weak resistance at best. I doubt they are, but if Ottawa doesn't come out hard tonight, we'll know why.
topshelfcookies Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 I understand Buffalo fans being a tad apprehensive declaring the series over, but after listening to the Sens in their postgame comments, they sure sound like a defeated, DEFLATED team to me. They're lamenting over missed breaks, when the truth of the matter is that they have not played with the desperation and tenacity of the Sabres this series, and allowed Buffalo to steal two games in their home rink. Quick, which of Ottawa's top 5 forwards would dive head first to block a shot from the point like Max did last night? Alfredo? Spazz? Heatley? Havlat? Anyone else in their lineup? Besides Mike Fisher, I can't think of anyone I've seen on the Sens who has been willing to pay the price like Buffalo has CONSISTENTLY done this series.

Besides Mike Fisher, I can't think of anyone I've seen on the Sens who has been willing to pay the price like Buffalo has CONSISTENTLY done this series. Neil and Varada played with intensity and abandon last night, but they were basically benched in the 3rd period. The Sens reason those two players don't have the talent of their other lines, but if the other lines don't have the heart to pay the price, what good are they? Ruff pulls a guy of the bench (who's been there for a month), and gives him serious ice time in the 3rd period. Murray sits his energy line and watches his stars play from the perimeter in the 3rd period. Ruff gives the responsibility for winning the game to every player in the lineup. Ottawa relies on four or five stars. When those stars slump or are neutralized or just aren't good enough, the rest of the team isn't prepared to pick up the slack. Playing out of character is how Lindy describes it. Fast guys hit, playmakers block shots, benched players become heros. Buffalo's doing it and Ottawa's making excuses.
