I’m about out of hope. It’s early yet but I have little interest in next year unless there are major changes. I also think New England is in good hands and will quickly challenge our stranglehold on the division sooner rather than later.

Going for 2 points in the first half is almost always a mistake.  Baltimore made that mistake against us just the week prior.

The Bills literally took one point off the board.  Keep that point and you need a FG to win, not tie.  Keep that point and make your 2 point try and the game is tied.

I hate going for two in the first half, you just don't know how things will play out.

McDermott agreed with you, but then the penalty cut the distance to 1 yard.  With the way the tush push had been working (this was early in the game before we knew the Chiefs had figured out how to stop it), the chance of getting a free point went way up.  I don't know what the league-wide stats are for 2-point conversions from the 1-yard-line (very small amount of data, though you could add on 4th-and-goal from the 1), but going into this game, they'd probably say that the Bills' chance would be above that.  If all 2-point conversions were taken from the 1-yard-line, you'd see teams taking them all the time.

I feel bad for josh.  He has been stepping up in these critical moments and the team ends up coming up short anyways.  It's just disappointing.

However, I will say that while I am disappointed, I don't feel defeated.  We have the rest of JA's career to win a super bowl and I strongly believe that they will do it before he retires.

Also, where was Cook on that last Bills offensive drive?  Guy was electric the whole game and then suddenly they get away from him when it matters?  On the first play of the last drive.. they handed it off to Ty Johnson on first down with the season on the line.  I don't have anything against Ty Johnson, but Cook is far and away the more dynamic player and is half the reason the score is so close.

Well the Bills offense had several chances.  Stopped kc twice in second half and could not add to the lead.  Also had the football handed to them to win the game at the end.

Injuries are part of the game.  Most losing teams will tell you they aren't an excuse.   I get that.

But maybe that is the reason the #1 seed is so important.

I don't think its disputed by many that Bendford is the Bills best defensive back and maybe a top 10 CB in the league. Taylor Rapp is certainly better than his backup.

The Chiefs came into this game 100% healthy if I'm not mistaken. The Bills, well, played without those 2.  If Both Benford and Rapp played that entire game, isn't it possible, maybe even LIKELY the Bills are in the Superbowl?

The buy and #1 seed aren't everything, but I think for the Bills (vs the Chiefs), it has become underrated.

The regular season doesn't really matter next year, very few in this community will celebrate the Bills making the playoffs and/or winning the division next year. At this point that doesn't matter.  The ONLY thing that matters between now and next January is if they can get the #1 seed and the bye week.

Let’s not ignore the significant gap in talent with the Chiefs, Eagles, and Ravens. The Ravens just choke. But better roster. Cincy has better weapons as well and could be a threat next year.  IMO this is mainly because Beane consistently whiffs at the top of the draft. His later round picks are great but what could be on our team vs what is, is one primary reason we cannot get over the hump. We’d of gotten killed by the Eagles.

Totally agree with all of this

Even with a "talent difference" , what bothers me is this game was very winnable.  Not converting on third downs cost this team to play in the super bowl.  Had a chance to win at the end of the game, with the ball in Josh's hands.  Ughhh

Last year it was the Jets.  The year prior it was Miami.

They don't need major changes, they need a few pieces.   A WR1 and an impact playmaker on defense.

You are a excellent poster but the sentences in bold not true.   We lost a playoff game at home to KC just last season, and we lost a playoff game to Cinci the year before.  The #1 seed will help, but you still have to play the games.

Across the board in all facets the Bills brought their B game.   There were some calls that hurt them but they did not make enough of the plays that were there.

I think you aren't getting my point.

My point is that with the bye week, you get that extra week to rest, and with having it wrapped up early, you can possibly give key players multiple weeks off, or at leat multiple weeks of a lower workload.

KC had the bye week and even with it at the end of the season rested players at the end of the regular season. They were basically 100% healthy. The Bills with the extra game played were not.

You might win that game...not if it was in Orchard Park...but if YOU were 100% healthy, not missing key players....and KC had the extra game and they had a key player or two injured instead of you.

This is a great watch. My God, the memories. It ends curiously enough about where my fandom ended. Van's calls, like Rick's, were perfect.

Tim Russert has the final word: the Bills are going to win a Super Bowl, if not in my lifetime, then in Luke's.

(This doc also ends with a great chant I had never heard but works so well: B-U-F-F... ALO. Probably didn't capture the cadence but it needs to be adopted.)

How much cap space do the Bills have for next year? Diggs hit will be gone and what about Miller’s?  Beef up the D in the draft and FA and take another run with better personnel.

This team was written off as 3rd place in the division as it was a rebuilding year.  They made it to the AFC Championship and with a couple proper calls could be Super Bowl bound. They were undefeated at home all season. They will be in much better shape next season.

Yeah losing sucks but don’t pretend this team is dead.
