He is the most entertaining athlete I have every experienced, and its not even close.

Monday I told my wife, enjoy and appreciate every moment of this.  There will never be another one like him, certainly not in Buffalo.

What we are witnessing is fleeting, unfortunately.  Take it in and enjoy it, win or lose.  You’ll never see it again.

Agreed 100%.

I struggle to articulate the renaissance that I've experienced as a sports fan. The accepted wisdom in all professional sports is that fans are "long suffering" if their fans (I prefer the English term: supporters) haven't experienced a championship. People embrace it. They wear it as a badge of honour, of sorts.

I reject that. I defy that. That sort of "suffering" is a choice that is made in response to events over which we have no control.**

The Allen-led Bills have already provided me with more joy and delight than I thought I would ever fit into my time as a Bills fan. My son and I have been perched in the first few rows of the 300-deck for play after play after incredible play by Allen -- two of the best occurred in the past few weeks! And I won't taint any of those memories, those feelings with a "yeah, but ... ." That's a choice other people make.

Allen is beyond generational. He's a once in a lifetime athlete.

** I note that the persistent and futile mediocrity of the Sabres is another matter. If I remained invested, there would be sports fandom suffering there.

Josh is a living “Are you not entertained?” meme.

I’ve said long ago that I emotionally divorced myself from the Bills 7 or 8 quarterbacks ago.  It has made watching the absolute treat that Josh Allen is so much better.  I don’t care 1 iota about coaching decisions, schemes, personnel decisions, play calling.  None of it.  But I make time on my calendar every non prime time game (my work schedule puts me in bed by 9pm) to watch the Bills play.  Or more accurately, watch Josh Allen play.  He is the most entertaining athlete I have every experienced, and its not even close.

This is so very true.  The only other athlete I put up in Allen's tier is Michael Jordan.  I hate basketball, I've never liked the sport at all. However, I could watch Michael Jordan play basketball any time.  I still never watched other basketball games or knew the standings (although you knew the Bulls were near the top) but if the Bulls were on TV and I was flipping stations more often than not, Jordan was on my TV.

It's not say Allen is the same as Jordan or there are not other great athletes, but that "IT" factor is just too much to turn away from. I am the same as you. I have come back to clearing my calendar just so I can watch the Bills play and it's because of Allen.

So, I take Allen. Frankly he just makes football fun to watch.

I was thinking about Josh versus Jim Kelly.  Jimbo was a fine quarterback, but there is a certain joy to Allen's aura.

Dude - Not even close.  And I love Jim.  Our era.   Apples and oranges in terms of overall skillset.  He will break all Jims records.

Edit -  And fun factor which was the orignal comment.   YES

There's no real comparison, imo.

I respect and appreciate what Kelly was able to do. But I also can't forget the Houston Gambler stuff, the heavy partying behaviour once he came to town (widely known), and him generally being sort of a d1ck.

Setting aside that Allen can do so much more than Kelly ever could on the field, there's also the matter of Allen being a uniquely incredible guy.

This Q&A was just another little chestnut that I can't help but adore (the question is something about "how did it feel to play the game as a soon to be married man?")

That little "heenyaah" is ... sorry ... pretty adorable.

Yeah.. I was going to say this. Having a close friend who was at a Hunter's Hope golf event at a table with Jim Kelly and experienced first hand what a ***** Kelly was. Kent Hull verbally slapped Kelly at that table basically saying all of these people are here supporting you and Hunter and you don't get to act like an ***** to them. You need to appreciate each and every one of them.  From that point on I had a good understanding of who Jim Kelly was. I could respect his play on the field, but not as a person. I still don't care to see or listen to him.

Timing is bizarre

Somehow I think that they had some agreement that said Hyde can go anywhere, but if he's available and the Bills are guaranteed in the playoffs that he would sign on for a playoff run.  It's the only reason I can think of them signing him now versus over the bye.

Amen, Amen.

I had no time or patience for the evangelical “heal, Lord, heal!” #KellyTough cult that emerged for a while several years ago.

Timing is perfect, get him back up to speed for the playoffs. He will replace Hamlin.

I'm fine with having him around or insurance, but please lets not get him on the field in place of Hamlin or anyone else currently healthy.  The last couple of seaons, it was already obvious Hyde and Poyer lost so much quickness and speed they were liabilities out there.  Even if Hamlin doesn't read the offense/plays as well, his edge in athleticism over 'another year older' hyde more than makes up for that to me.

According to Joe Buscaglia at The Athletic (who has been hinting at a Hyde return all year), Hyde has been vocal about wanting a normal Thanksgiving. This is the earliest to have expected him if he were going to come back.
