did they really kick the kickoff into the EZ?

I agree, you kick it so they have to field it and that's game. It worked out though.ย

Good for Tyler Bass

I really hope this game doesnโ€™t come down to Bass making a kick.

I'll have to admit that with the speed that they have, I was nervous when Miami started lateralling the ball.ย  Rousseau just ran Waddle down with his own speed and size.

CBS is airing a feature about Ray Davis. Hope you guys have the ability to replay it on demand. Just an unbelievable story.

There was an athletic story on him earlier this season. He's lived a tough life and worked really hard.

That was an excellent write-up. But thereโ€™s something about seeing and hearing the young man tell the story.

That's the first ever 60+ yard field goal by a Bill

Just for yuks, I'll point out that the longest field goal record, at 63 yards, was held for over 40 years by Tom Dempsey, who made the kick while playing for the Saints but who finished his career with the Bills.ย  Dempsey was born with no fingers on his right hand and no toes on his right foot, which was his kicking foot.ย  His kicking shoe was squared off in a pretty striking manner.

Well that was fun.

There was a wedding in Dallas last night and a bunch of people came down from Buffalo (the groom's from Buffalo).ย  They came out to Fort Worth to watch the game at Buffalo Bros.ย  They brought big WNY energy, especially when Bass nailed the 61 yard field goal.

Another Bills win. ย Tough game, Miami had their season on the line and they needed it. ย Tua had no rust. ย I knew this game was going to be close. ย The Bills answered the bell like good teams do. ย The Bill are better, they are the more composed and better coached team of the two. ย  I ALWAYS love beating Miami, I survived the Bills going โ€œOh for the โ€˜70โ€™sโ€ to that team. ย I am enjoying the win. ย
ย

Listening to McDermottโ€™s post game interview, they mentioned his reluctance to play rookies very much. ย He made it clear that you earn your way on the roster and in the games. ย You have to beat out a vet, and McD has to be able to look that vet in the eye if the rookie takes his spot. ย He said numerous times โ€œyou earn your time on the fieldโ€ and he makes that clear to everyone. ย He also has a knack for having his backups ready to go when injuries occur. ย  He gets a lot of second guessing, so Iโ€™m pointing out a clear strength that he has. ย

Contrast that to what Sabres coaches have to deal with no significant veteran base on the roster and young players given ice time by design, or because thatโ€™s all we have. I hope Adams heard what McD said. ย  Adamโ€™s roster building style really makes it hard on coaches, ย and for young players to develop properly. ย No wonder so many leave and thrive.ย

Dempsey played briefly for the Bills, at the beginning of the Chuck Knox era. ย I was at what I think was the last home loss to the Dolphins in the 70โ€™s. ย Dempsey missed a 37โ€™ish yard FG in the final seconds, it would have ended the streak. ย It was a rainy but warm game, I came home soaked and dejected. ย

Thanks a lot Dempsey. ย

The Bills ended that streak in 1980, and the goslposts at Rich Stadium came down. Bills fans were always rabid and crazy. ย

If you havenโ€™t had a chance to watch McDermott and Bass in the locker room, definitely check it out. ย A great display of emotion.

It appears Sean is a very good, decent man. ย And it appears that locker room is awfully close. ย This has been a fun season.

Guy has been literally fighting for his job for tryouts the last few weeks. Then instead of relying on JA17 heroics they played for the safe long kick. Which is as much of a compliment for JA17 as it is on the coaching. Then he pays dividends. Woo, not sure I couldโ€™ve done that. Must be why Iโ€™m no NFL coachย
