X. Benedict Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 I had to laugh last night watching some OLN. Mike Knuble was a studio guest - and Bill Clement kept asking Knuble what assets Buffalo had. What is special about this Buffalo team? Shakes his head nothing How has Buffalo been able to win night after night? Shakes his head nothing Do you think Buffalo is just playing better team hockey? Shakes head no You do admit that Buffalo was good enough to beat the Flyers? Knuble says not really. This is the kind of denial that might put the Sabres in the finals. Aside: Buffalo had 40 hits last night.
Peace Frog Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 Perhaps Knuble's denial of Buffalo's superiority is just a suppression of his latent homosexuality.

Who cares what he thinks, might as well ask Jiri Dopita,
wjag Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 I guess I came away from listening to that with a slightly different perspective. I thought his point about crashing the net was right on. Ottawa has been reluctant to push in too deep for fear of those embarrassing odd-man rushes the Sabres have been pulling off. Their D line is reluctant to pinch as well. His point, I thought, was to go for it. If you aren't in deep causing the Defense fits and screening the goalie, then they can't win. He wasn't so much dissing Buffalo as he was Ottawa by saying playing on the perimeter with a team that has shown no fear of placing themselves between the puck and the goal can't work. I would never expect him to admit they got beat by a superior club. I did think he could have at least said they out played us. Cause they were defintely outplayed. Sabres Fan in Maryland
bottlecap Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 It was funny to see three ex-Flyers -- Clement, Jones and Knuble on the Philthydelphia Comcast Network come to the uncomfortable realization that the Sabres might be pretty good. Hey, they beat them, even though it was lucky. (There's alot of bad blood between the Sabres and Flyers, it all goes back to '74-75.) I think all three predicted Ottawa (emphatically) to score the OT goal. What a bunch of lunkheads. They should sing that Three Stooges harmony together: "Hello - Hello - Hello. Hello." Then bang all three of their heads together.
jad1 Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 So Buffalo outscored Philly 21-5 in their four wins, and Knuble can't figure out why they lost. Could the Flyers be big, slow, and stupid too? Yes, yes they are.
topshelfcookies Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 Can you imagine the amount of excuses that would have piled up in a series between Philly and Ottawa? hahaha
frisky Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 I wasn't watching that on OLN but he's still probably too upset about get squashed like a bug to admit anything. But it's not just him. I think most everybody still considers us underdogs no matter what round or who we play. But that's okay by me.
Goodfella25 Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 Somebody's bitter! Add his name to the list of a million people that doubt us. Seriously, what an idiot. Hope he's having fun watching the playoffs on TV tho
GGM Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 How about this "blog" report? Interesting analysis of Game 1. From cnnsi.com
SabresFanInTexas Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 This was my response to Al. I know him - my wife used to work with him at a sports publishing group. He lives in Dallas... Al, Good to see that you're FINALLY coming around on the Sabres. While I realize that you'll be depressed without any Canadian teams left, it's probably better for hockey overall. I think all the Sabres fans look forward to your explanation regarding your suggestion of Tim Thomas over Ryan Miller for the US Olympic team.
