SHAAAUGHT!!! Posted January 27 Report Posted January 27 Sabres have 34 games left, including this one. Luckily there are a lot of underperforming teams in the East this year. My back-of-the-napkin calculations estimate the last wildcard slot for the eastern conference will need at least 94pts, which means the Sabres will need to win 24 of those games. Another way to look at it is they can only afford to lose 10 or less games. That said, they need these 2pts today before the All-Star break so they can come back with a full head of steam to close out the season at a 5 win for every 7 game rate. 1 Quote

Today could be a pretty big game tbh I wouldn’t be shocked if they gave up hope with a loss today, having to sit on that bad math over the break. 6-5 month of January, that would be an 89 point pace committed over the course of the easiest stretch of our season. Why would a team that goes for an 89 point pace in that month, and 77 point pace overall, trend for the required 119 point pace going forward? At least if we put up a 7-4, that’s a 104 point pace for the month: at least it makes the 114 pace we’d need the rest of the way, while still incredibly daunting, at least within the realm of possibly if we squint really tightly at the numbers and imagine the up-trend to continue over the rest of the season 1 Quote
HumanSlinky39 Posted January 27 Report Posted January 27 I want to say this is an easy win, but given the way this season has been going I fully expect this to be a slog, even possibly a loss. Quote

PromoTheRobot Posted January 27 Report Posted January 27 If I'm the NHL, I make a team play their backup if a goalie has an equivalent problem. Why hold up the game? Quote
PromoTheRobot Posted January 27 Report Posted January 27 That puck handling crap is still a problem. You could tell neither goalie or skater had an idea. Quote
