I don’t see CBC scratched into that case anywhere.

I went to that one.  I thought we would win the Cup that year.  Bernie Parent in goal was the difference,

I feel much younger now than this morning 😀

Do you even know what that is?  Honestly curious.  My son is almost your age and I'm quite sure he doesn't.

We used stickers to mark the best channel locations.
VHF channels using the older names:  Buffalo had channels 2 (WGR/NBC), 4 (WBEN/CBS), 7 (WKBW/ABC), and Canadian channels were 5, 9, 11 - I think the call letters were CTV, CBC, CHCH but I can't recall which was which anymore.

UHF channels were 17 (PBS) and then they added 29 (Local stuff, WNED)

I used to watch HNIC and the Hamilton Red Wings OHL.  Could not get enough.

Canadian Pro wrestling was also a must.

I have to admit that I don't. So please tell!

In pre-cable days, you would have a TV antenna on your roof.  It would have a little motor that would rotate the shaft it was mounted on so you could "aim" it to give you the best TV signal.  This was the controller for the antenna on your roof, and it would sit on your television set.

I put aim in quotes because the aiming was not very precise.  You'd find what works best for a particular station and as other have alluded to, mark that on the controller so when you put Channel 4 on, you'd rotate the antenna to the spot that usually works best for Channel 4.  But depending on the weather that might not even give you the best reception for that channel.

Oh, that is interesting. Around here, on the countryside, some people still have the antenna, we had one also, so the problem with (not) watching a game in a not suitable weather is familiar. But, I have not heard of or seen one ever before. Maybe they did not make it to Scandinavia? What is the name of those?

I think it was Coco Brazil?

It was Bobo. But his patented move was the Coco butt, which was a head butt.

Most every great rastler had a signature move.  A flying drop kick, a sleeper hold, a chop to the throat, or something.

I was at my parents’ house in the early 2000s when I heard the sound of the Nextdoor neighbor’s antenna spinning. I was shocked that the thing still worked at that point.

And his manager Abdulla Faroof (I think that was his name?). I was partial to Domenic DiNucci (being an Italian kid). Thanks Punch .... now I feel really old. 😄

Loved Denucci, and I saw him beat nemesis Waldo Von Erick in the Aud and he also beat Ernie "The Big Cat" Ladd (a former AFL player) .

He formed a great tag team with Tony Parisi and later again with Victor Rivera.

Good times.

I fondly remember the A/B switcher that we could use to watch scrambled porn or other Pay Per View programming.

I saw Tyson biting off Holyfield's ear in that scrambled and mostly green broadcast.

I know that's not as old as antennas, but still.

So, with digital HD OTA transmissions, you still technically need one of those. We have a smaller HD antenna for the times when we don't feel like messing with the computer or Android TV box and it needs to be aimed. I don't know if there's some newfangled wide-area array that you can set up in your attic that would replace a rotating antenna, but I do know the concept behind the OG antenna rotor control remains valid.
