I just came across this YouTube video by Johhny Hawkey from last year. If it has previously been posted and discussed, please disregard. While it is a totally subjective rating, I thought it was nice to get a peek inside the locker rooms across the league. It’s 20 minutes long and the Sabres are at the end, so ya may wanna skip ahead.

Best room, worst team.  In some of the other rooms there were words like “accountability”, “we win here”, etc..  Maybe some reminders of the goal would be nice in the room.

Those reminders are plastered in various adjacent rooms, hallways, meeting areas, cafeteria, etc. Also a ton of wall space devoted to important Sabres legacy teams, players, etc. 

None of that matters because it has to come from within the players themselves. If you don’t possess the necessary character, which includes every trait necessary for success, then you’re not gonna get any of that from signs and placards.

The video is kind of pointless. Does the room smell? Does it have hot water? It’s based solely on how the rooms look in various picture, not on actual useful information.

i always thought word posting was more a, 'look, we did something' kind of thing that a decorator can make the owner and pr staff feel all good about. that said, always thought that stuff was better for meeting rooms and weight rooms...where work is actually being done.

some of these lockerrooms and hallways leading to the ice are almost too nice. i am not a 'grrr, everything needs to be gritty' kind of guy...but some of this stuff is very country clubesque. 

always disliked the sabres hallway leading to ice...bright lines, fans lined up, carpeting and woodwork....if i were a player, i would hate that. give me a concrete wall and floor with banners, trophies and old pics... just my opinion. i know everyone has their own take on these things.

I wish it was different but at this time it doesn't appear as if our "room" is working as desired.

This guy likes the Sabres room the best and it is a good one for sure.  When push comes to shove, I don't think it makes that much difference.

I’d rather the players cared about the on ice product and gavr two shits about the room experience. Its a country club and that folks is why they play like losers. Hold each other accountable.

Maybe they need to build a second crappy room, like an outhouse, and then just show them pictures of this one and say you get the treat when you earn it.
