PTS Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 I know some people that know some people. B-) 1. Hasek in net tonight. 2. Connolly has concussion and might be out for the year. 3. Kalinin has fracture in foot and is out at least 7-10 days. I really really hope #2 and #3 are not true but I don't like what I heard. As for #1, "Hasek is preparring like he will play BUT it might be some giant Jedi-mind trick the Sens are trying to play." Either way, tonight is a must-win for both teams. If Buffalo wins, game over for Ottawa even if the second coming of Patrick Roy shows up to play for them. If Ottawa wins, it might be a difference series without Timmy and 'Tri, if they are indeed out.
MartyHavlatismyGOD Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Hasek isnt ready.. I hope that is not true about Connoly - he's a blast to watch.
Corp000085 Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 hopefully connolly won't be rushed back. brian murray is an idiot, but he's not that dumb to start hasek tonight. if hasek goes tonight, he has to be able to go tomorrow too... Emmery will start tonight

Emmery will start tonight Just been told that Ottawa radio is reporting Hasek will or might play. I think it's a smokescreen but I welcome it because he will get lit up in Buffalo and bail on his teammates after one bad goal. Also, Ottawa's sports station is a joke. They like to stir the pot. Needless to say, if the Sabres win tonight, I don't think it matters who plays.
GGM Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 I realize that injury reporting rules are lax during the playofss, but can teams really out-and-out LIE about whether a player is too injured to play THAT DAY? Murrey and Hasek both said he wasn't going to play tonight...That would be a bald-faced lie if he did. How are the bookies supposed to get an accurate line!! :)

How are the bookies supposed to get an accurate line!! :) I've been watching the line today and it seems to be bouncing a lot, usually in Ottawa's favor. I think Hasek is a smokescreen trying to throw the Sabres off but I don't think the Sabres care.

Goodfella25 Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Hasek will play if they go down 3-0, that's my feeling. Whether he's completely ready or not. TSN is reporting Connolly is out for tonight and Kalinin is "day to day" and will not play tonight...Fitzpatrick is in, and that worries me because he's weak in his own end and we need everyone playing smart again EDIT: Link to Connolly/Kalinin article: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=165459&hubname=nhl Link to Hasek update: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=165468&hubname=nhl
BetweenThePipes00 Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Are these the same sources that told us that the Sabres would be wearing Blue and Gold for the opener? ;) Seriously, Connolly probably is out for the year, it sucks but I will be happy if he can play again ever. Just a shame. Many reporters wrote that Kalinin had ice on his knee after Game 2 ... I know they like to keep people guessing but ... I guess we will see ...
apuszczalowski Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Murray has said Hasek will not play tonight Hasek said he is feeling better and feeling more like a goalie which means he thinks he's ready to go. He won't start tonight, but tomorrow (especially if Buffalo wins toinight) you will see Hasek in net. And I have a feeling since he has not been able to practice much, we will see Emery in net by the second period tomorrow if Hasek starts. 42 years old and Over 3 months without playing or practicing much, he can't shake the rust off with just a couple practices.
PTS Posted May 10, 2006 Author Report Posted May 10, 2006 But, Timmy...What odds would you give on your source being right, PTS? I'd say 75/25 that it's true. It comes from the same people that eventually filled me in on Teppo's condition in Philly last round that I post on this board. The info was just slighty off but the majority of it was true after it was made official. I hope I'm as wrong as I was that they'd be wearing Blue and Gold's at the start of the season but I'm nervous. With playoffs you never know, the Sabres could be playing games with Ottawa too.

andyc61 Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 I'm new to posting here even though I've been lurking for well over a year. I felt I should contribute because I can confirm at least two of these rumors: 1. Kalinin has a fracture (in what I hear is his lower leg) 2. Connolly is suffering from headaches today and is expected to miss the rest of the series at minimum These come from someone who's friends with Quinn.
PTS Posted May 10, 2006 Author Report Posted May 10, 2006 Are these the same sources that told us that the Sabres would be wearing Blue and Gold for the opener? ;) No, I don't deal with that source anymore!!! But again, that was another case where most of the information was true, I just got the YEAR wrong.
Realist Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 also, how is is i jsut read on an AP column on yahoo that Ruff said connolly feels well and might play? I believe that quote was attributed to Ruff's statements yesterday. Today after the morning practice, it seems, LR said Connelly is out tonite.
BetweenThePipes00 Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 No, I don't deal with that source anymore!!! But again, that was another case where most of the information was true, I just got the YEAR wrong. Well yeah but ... I guess I am just saying that I have NO sources and I could have said Connolly was out (with his history and that hit, he SHOULD be out), guessed at Kalinin's injury and been close (knee, foot, what's the difference, he is out) and said Terry Sawchuk was going to play for the Sens and then said "hey two out of three!" ... I'm not saying you're making it up, I'm saying your source is guessing like the rest of us to an extent
Dan Gross Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Much of what I'm reading contradicts 1 and 3. Reading quotes from Hasek and Murray saying "not ready for tonight..." When I read anything specific on Kalinin it always says knee...
Dagwood Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 am i the only one who could care less whether Hasek played or not? there is no way on earth at his age, let alone most ages, he could come back and play tonight and be half the goalie is once was. it defies human nature. he would be more rusty than emery if you ask me? also, how is is i jsut read on an AP column on yahoo that Ruff said connolly feels well and might play? Have you been living in a box? Hasek was leading the league in numbers (except shutouts) at the mid season point. The Sens had the lowest Goals against of all teams. Like 40 less goals at one point. Hasek didn't play pro hockey for what 2 years, 3 years (not counting the charity games). His timing may be a little off, but it's like riding a bike..you don't forget how to do it after some time. I'd love to see him go again.... Knowing that Hasek may be ready should certainly push Emery to step up his game and make some game saving saves. If Emery faulters, an 80% healthy Hasek could be all we need to get this series going. oh well, anyone getting excited for tonight? I am. Let's see what kind of game unfolds in game 3. Cheers
nfreeman Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 If Dominik plays, he will play well. Here are my reasons for this statement: 1. Dominik knows what he can and can't do. He's not going to put himself in a position where he would embarass himself. 2. A significant part of Dominik's game has always been mental -- focus, positioning, toughness. He was the best goalie in the NHL for us at age 37 not because of athleticism but because he understands the game and he knows where to go. Frankly, I hope he plays. He was an amazing player for us who did a lot for this franchise and the city of Buffalo. I think it would turn this into an unforgettable game (in a series full of them). And, even if he plays and Timmy and Dmitri don't, I think we can and will win -- and beating Dominik would make it even sweeter. Go Sabres.

I'm not saying you're making it up, I'm saying your source is guessing like the rest of us to an extent This person isn't in the position to make stuff up. As for "hey two out of three", it's all relative. I said I was told the Sabres have Blue and Gold Jerseys made, they are modernized versions of the old jerseys, and they will wear them at the start of the year. All that was relative to each other ... and minus the start of the year stuff, it's all true. Last round I said, Teppo won't play in Game Four, he's back in Buffalo seeing his doctor and he has chest or shoulder bruise. All of it was relative and the only thing wrong was it was his heart not his chest or shoulder like I was told. That being said again, I HOPE to God it's all BS.
Derrico Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 How is Hasek practising going to help Emry perform better?? If anything it's going to show a lack of confidence in him and play head games. Looks like the plan to throw Buffalo off may have just backfired!

Looks like the plan to throw Buffalo off may have just backfired! I completely agree, Hasek did take most of the shots in the morning skate today. Emery and Morrison split the other net. Ottawa is trying anything to stir the pot but it will backfire on them if the Sabres jump all over them tonight.
X. Benedict Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 I just gotta think that nothing would pump Ryan Miller up more than dressing Dominic Hasek.
Dan Gross Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 I just gotta think that nothing would pump Ryan Miller up more than dressing Dominic Hasek. Do you think the Sens would let Ryan into their locker room so he could do that? What do you think he'd dress Dom in? Oh...nevermind... :P

If Emery faulters, an 80% healthy Hasek could be all we need to get this series going. oh well, anyone getting excited for tonight? I am. Let's see what kind of game unfolds in game 3. Cheers IF Hasek were to play, it would definitely be interesting for several reasons. 1. Nobody but Dom has any idea how healthy the groin truly is. While he has historically not tried to play when he believes he is injured, one has to believe that he might make an exception to try to beat the Sabres. (I think EVERYONE wants to beat their old teams more so than other opponents.) Would he rush himself back to play against "de SAY-bers"? 2. Dom typically doesn't seem to get rusty, but he is ~41, so maybe he's at an age where rust will start to gather on him. Is he rusty, and if so, how long will it take for him to shake it? 3. Hasek has lost his last 3 starts in the Mmarena and he looked absolutely terrible in one of them. This is a game where nerves could actually get to Dom (as they seemed to when he came in playing w/ Detroit). Would they? 4. Would Dom being in fire up the Sens or cause them to sputter due to overconfidence? My guess is he would fire them up, but we just don't know. 5. Would Dom being in the lineup fire up the Sabres? Questions, questions, questions. Anyone got any answers?
