Doohicksie Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 Yeah, well, have fun with that. On the one hand, it feels like the Sabres "lost a competition" by not signing him; on the other, the record of other players who had the same surgery extending their careers is pretty dismal. 5 Quote
French Collection Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 Oh well, I didn’t have my heart set on him signing with the Sabres. I was on the fence because of his defensive play and whether he can actually play again at a valuable level. Here’s to beating the Wings. 4 Quote
LGR4GM Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 ok. Time to find someone else to come in and play for us. We need some more depth. 2 2 1 Quote

Cascade Youth Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 Wouldn’t have been a good signing for the Sabres but it’s a bad look for Adams that he wasn’t able to convince Kane to join the team. Quote
PromoTheRobot Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 Been saying all along, Kane's camp was floating the Sabres to stoke interest in Patrick. I doubted Adams or Granato ever wanted him. Made no sense. 4 2 Quote

Maybe he’ll defy the odds and become the first NHL player to have this surgery and play meaningfully hockey after. 2 Quote
SHAAAUGHT!!! Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 Kane obviously “doesn’t want to be here” with this signing. I hope the Sabres FO remembers this over the summer and doesn’t sign him. He would have been a good depth piece to add this year to help on the PP and add some experience, but there should be better players available over the summer. Quote
Carmel Corn Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 Not surprising. Had he signed with Buffalo, that would have sold a few more tickets, but I would prefer to see a more physical forward in his prime. Yes, that would require a trade vs. signing a UFA Kane, which remains to be seen if GMKA will do his job or nothing (as usual). 1 Quote

Yeah, mixed feelings here too. Would have been somewhat comforting to hear that he had some sort of tryout with the team to evaluate his skating, and he chose elsewhere because of our spot in the standings. At least we would have known we were a legit option for him. Quote

If Patrick Kane doesn’tu want to sign with the Sabres, who would want to sign with them? Could he have concerns about the Sabres that we don’t know about? Edited November 28, 2023 by Sidc3000 Quote
MattPie Posted November 28, 2023 Report Posted November 28, 2023 (edited) There are a lot of scenarios here Didn't want to go to Buffalo since they're struggling Knows this might be his last hockey contract so took the most money Buffalo wasn't interested enough or didn't offer much Didn't think he'd crack the top-6 in Buffalo, unlike Detroit (? I have no idea what Detroit looks like this year) Just doesn't like Buffalo pizza after eating deep dish (he is hitting all the "pizza" towns though, Chicago, NYC, and now Detroit) Edited November 28, 2023 by MattPie Quote

He would absolutely crack the top 6 if he comes anywhere close to what he use to play like. The Ref Wings are 10th in the league so it could be that they are better than the Sabres. 1 Quote

In any case, Detroit has their own style pizza (obvs you know this Doohickie), it's a little thicker than Buffalo, Focaccia crust, and usually square. It's probably descendant of Sicilian. Quote
