TANK RECORD IN PERIL

In all these decades of Sabres hockey, the record for fewest shots on goal in a game is held by the 2014-2015 Buffalo Sabres. They recorded only 10 SOG twice that epic season.

And here we are. The tank fruit could supplant the father.

It really is quite a strange phenomenon. Granted I have not watched the last four games but the ones that I had watched before that, there may have been only one where I was thoroughly entertained, possibly two. they have become quite literally unwatchable to me, and I highly suggest to people they take a break from them until they turn it around.

There is a bit of what 13 said. 
 

We have to overpay the average overpay to get UFAs and most that are interested are on the other end of their career. 
 

The Chychrun thing also showed evidence of issues acquiring players due to excessive demands by other teams due to us having multiple prospects.

I mean I feel the same towards you.  4 players and a true #1 goalie actually makes me laugh out loud.  You can think it's KA not wanting that all you'd like.   We don't need top end talent necessarily,  we need those guys that are good and fill your roster out.  Those free agents aren't coming here unless you give them years and millions more.  You aren't trading our prospects until they prove worth.  That means they have to develop in Roc, etc.  That time isn't now to maximize their trade potential.

Defense: Dahlin, EJohnson, Joker

Goal: Levi

The rest are tradable to include prospects, Cozens, Power, and Muel. Build from the backend out.

Get ahead of it now. Accept this season for the loss and management learning experience it will be.

We seem to struggle to win any in a row and don’t lose in regulation a bunch in a row either. A .500 team isn’t the worst thing, the seeming security in that is progress somewhat: but only progress relative to the worst we’ve seen the last decade or so. Not so much after a 91 points last year.

Hasn’t been enough holds on career year outputs from last season nor replacement of that output through internal dev.

It’ll be interesting to see how they look to transition from .500 club to playoff club

I figured that veterans who play with the attitude of Okposo and Girgensons could be had.  A few years ago, maybe they needed to sign a goaltender for an extra year with extra pay.

They have needed either veteran skaters to help cover for the inexperienced goalkeepers or a veteran goalkeeper to cover for the inexperienced skaters.  Over 3 offseasons, that seems reasonable to me.

They parroted that the expectation internally was playoffs this year, and more importantly it’s the common sense expectation for a regime in year 4: icing such a young team in that season remains a willing choice and certainly doesn’t serve as a manual cheat-code reset of expectations
