Zamboni Posted November 16, 2023 Report Posted November 16, 2023 Yes, the singer screwed up. Yes, he’s not the first. Yes, he won’t be the last. Slow sports news day … Quote
msw2112 Posted November 16, 2023 Report Posted November 16, 2023 (edited) I was watching on TV and thought I heard something unusual with O Canada. Then the anthem singer's poor performance was dwarfed by the Sabres' poor performance in the first period that followed. Edited November 16, 2023 by msw2112 1 Quote
Thorner Posted November 16, 2023 Report Posted November 16, 2023 They should do away with national anthems at corporate events anyways In Winnipeg they yell out TRUE NORTH (the corporation) during the true north strong and free line. Assuredly within the spirit of a national anthem. 2 2 Quote

Assuredly within the spirit of a national anthem. If a professional sporting event is a corporate event then no. Part of our culture is, or perhaps was, being patriotic and taking a moment to be thankful for what we have when in a large assembly. I would miss it. I just don't see any problem with it. 4 Quote

pastajoe Posted November 16, 2023 Report Posted November 16, 2023 The fact that Buffalo has both anthems sung and employs less than inspiring long winded singers with no background music makes it doubly cringeworthy and uninspiring. There must be a more enthusiastic singer in Buffalo who could be accompanied by the organ music. Quote
Broken Ankles Posted November 16, 2023 Report Posted November 16, 2023 (edited) This one is "notorious". The clip below also has Charley Steiner's laughing uncontrollably on Sport center. Edited November 16, 2023 by Broken Ankles Quote
Stoner Posted November 17, 2023 Author Report Posted November 17, 2023 The brilliant, bombastic Henry Pendleton. The best anthem singer in Sabres history? It begins and ends with Hank. 5 Quote

It’s about the words, presented in a beautiful voice. It’s not *about* the voice and range. Edited November 17, 2023 by Thorny 1 Quote
