There was a clip of him walking off the ice after losing to San Jose and the lip readers thought he said "I think that's it".  They know.. the win wasn't going to change things.  it was time.

Could it be "Bruce, there it is!" for replacement? 🙂

What about Gallant?

Personally would have Gallant as the 1st choice.

One of these years, he'll be Buffalo's coach for the next 2-3 before getting canned for ticking off management after taking the Sabres to another level.  Just like he does everywhere else he goes.

Could be Gallant... almost positive it will be someone with years of experience.  I'm not a huge Gallant fan as others are. I don't know that Bruce is the right guy either.

I don't think the coach is the biggest problem in Edmonton... the GM?  Yeah.. that's where I'd be looking for a change.

Their roster is consistently close to the cap and yet so bad behind the top two guys. Every year I look at them and say that is a bottom three team plus the world's best two players

Knoblauch has been considered a good up and coming NHL HC candidate for a few years now.  Championships in the WHL and OHL, NHL assistant coach, and AHL HC experience.  A lot of experience for a guy who is only 45.

I wanted Him during the Housley and Krueger coaching searches

Am I missing something?  Is it normal for an NHL team to hire the head coach of another team's AHL affiliate mid-season?

He must have a NHL Out  in His AHL Contract, that if he gets offered a HC Job in NHL he can take it

Normal?  Eh, not common, but you can't block an AHL head coach from taking an NHL HC job.

Umm, if his contract doesn't have a clause allowing him to void the AHL contract should he get an NHL offer, the Wolfpack could definitely have blocked him from taking the NHL job.  (It might affect future coaching searches, but a contract is a contract.)

It's Holland that needs to go but I am glad he is still there.

Yes, I'm hoping we can convince them olofsson will help their team. Holland is bad enough to trade for him.

After a few minutes of googling which I probably should have done before my previous post it appears you're right, but that it's common for teams to do what EDM did, and that teams often grant permission to other teams to interview their coaches for what amounts to a promotion... basically it seems to be considered bad karma to block a promotion to one of your coaches.

Didn't Holland build those great Red Wing teams?

I suppose it's easier when you have an all world C and all world D and an old(er), but still all world G and a very good G before that.

Edmonton really has nothing except 2 all world forwards.  It's obviously not enough.

I have no idea who the coach was, but as a casual observer he did not appear to be the biggest problem.
