topshelfcookies Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Welcome home boys! With a two game lead what will Lindy's boys muster for Game 3? How will Emery perform? How will Miller perform? HOW LOUD IS THE ARENA GOING TO BE? Could this be the most anticipated hockey game in Buffalo since 2001? I've got Hurricane 2000 and Sabredance ready to play on my alarm clock, just to get my day started off right. Let's have at it...what are your predictions (scores, goals, details?, anything!) I really, really want to go with the Sabres, but I just can't. If Buffalo wins tonight, they'll sweep the series, and I just can't see that happening. Ottawa is too good. I think that getting away from Ottawa will actually be good for the Sens, who decide they actually need to start making an effort down low. I've started writing my prediction three different times now, and can't figure it out. Part of me feels that Ottawa should finally find a way to win a game and game 3 is the time to do it, but at the same time, I just have a very strong gut feeling that the Sabres will finally figure out how to play "their" game vs. the Sens. When in doubt, go with your gut, right? I'm getting butterflies over this one already. Here goes... Ottawa scores 1st, late in the 1st period, but the Sabres tie it up in the 2nd on a PP deflection by Vanek, positioned in front of the net. A Kotalik goal minutes later give the Sabres the 2-1 lead but Ottawa finds some gumption, and gets the equalizer with just :45 to go in the 2nd. Ottawa starts off with a brutal flurry of chances in their first few shifts, but Miller makes some amazing saves and keeps his team in the game. At the media timeout, Ruff chews the ears off everyone, and the Sabres finally explode. Buffalo nets 3 goals in the 3rd, Drury, Dumont then Drury again. Buffalo wins 5-2.
JujuFish Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 I believe that we will see one of the Sabres' best all around performances so far this postseason. Buffalo will outshoot Ottawa and win, 4-2.
wjag Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 My gut says, and my hope is, that the Sabres play their first complete game of the series. Ryan had to get into their head a bit the other night. I expect the Senators to play with all-out-desperation for the first 10 minutes. You just know they want to get that goal first. If we can withstand that, I think the Sabres, the home ice, and the fans bring home a 3-1 victory. Goals: Dumont, Spezza, McKee (the back breaker), Briere (he's due).
Corp000085 Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Sabres 4 Senators 2 It will be an even game. Sabres will play better on offense and shut down the shot total on defense. They'll save domination for tomorrow night.
hopeleslyobvious Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 The team comes out fired up tonight, and gets more shots on Emery in the first. Emery continues to perform poorly and Morrison comes on in relief after Emery gives up 4. Sabres win 5-2.
MillerTyme Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 The key is the first 10 minutes or so. If we can survive the Sens all-out desperation without being down or being intimidated, the Sabres can win. Lets face it. The Sabres have yet to play their A, maybe even their B game so lets hope being at home they can play off the fans and play their game! Im not worried about shots though. The Sabres dont need a lot of shots, they need need legitimate scoring chances ... thats what leads to goals! My Prediction: Sens come out flying and come close a couple of times but Miller stands tall and the crowd goes wild. Just as the Sens think they are controlling play again, yet another 2-1 with Drury and Grier and Drury gets the opening goal. Early in the second, Alfredsson scores but just minutes later Maxim finally puts one in the net. 2-1 Buffalo going into the third. The Sens sense their season going down the drain and start pressing which leads to more turnovers and odd man rushes. The Sabres dont sit back like in game two ... they take advantage of the turnovers and net two goals to seal the deal. The final score is 4-2 (after Ottawa nets one late in the third). LETS GO SABRES ... cant friggin wait for tonight ... biggest game of the year!!!! .... Wish I was there ... anyone whose gonna be there ... MAKE IT LOUD!!!!!!
Carmel Corn Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Hate to say it....Ottawa comes ready to play and withstands the first 10 minutes of frenzy inside of HSBC. For the first time in the series, they will score the first goal and the Sabres will be playing catch-up all night. I also expect a big game from Redden, Chara, Phillips, etc. Ottawa takes game 3, score 4 to 2 in favor of the Sens. C'mon Swordsmen...make me eat my words!
lewport71 Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 I, too, fear that the desperation felt by the Sens is gonna carry them to a victory on Wed.. 5--4 OT Sens,, Sorry about that fellow Sabres fans
GGM Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 All depends on Miller, in my mind...We need him to be huge again tonight. With a couple starters out and Ottawa reenergized by our misfortune (and Dom's magically healing groin), they may have enough tonight. If Miller is above average, 4-2 Sens. If Miller has his A-game, 3-2 Buffalo in OT.
nfreeman Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Ottawa comes out desperate, fast and hitting like crazy. We don't flinch. McKee, Grier, Gaustad, Dumont, Pyatt and Kotalik give it right back to them. We get a bit more offensive pressure with the forecheck, mostly due to Lindy getting his preferred matchups. Briere, Hecht and Dumont are our best line on offense. Nevertheless, Ottawa outshoots us 36-25. Fitzie, in for Dmitri, is paired with McKee, and horribly coughs it up once to Alfredsson (who tries a drop pass that gets swatted aside by a backchecking Roy) but otherwise plays OK. Soupy is paired with Teppo. The 2 of them look overwhelmed by the forecheck from time to time but Miller and the backchecking forwards bail them out when needed. Our PP continues to struggle but Soupy or Kotalik blasts one in from the point through a screen. Max finally gets something going. (I've been predicting this for every game -- come on, Max! We need you!!) Drury and Grier are heroic. Miller, good and PO'd about Ottawa's "coach" not giving him credit for his game 2 masterpiece, stays in the zone. Sabres, 3-1.
Realist Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 I don't think Ottawa will take both games in Buffalo, but the Senators are going to be flying tonite. If they get an early one on Miller that will give them even more confidence. Ottawa 3 Buffalo 1 Tomorrow Buffalo comes back to go ahead 3 Games to 1.
MartyHavlatismyGOD Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 4-2 Sens tonight... However if they lose tonight, i think they will be swept.
X. Benedict Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 For what its worth, gamblers like the Sens tonight in Buffalo's Barn. Fans you better even those odds.
