Buffalonill Posted November 5, 2023 Report Posted November 5, 2023 He was benched last night this feels like skinner 2.0 with Krueger. He needs a change of Scenery and the blue jackets likely will eat some of that contract Him and Thompson could be one of the best together 1 2 Quote
Pimlach Posted November 5, 2023 Report Posted November 5, 2023 Good player but could be an expensive blocker. Quote

Wyldnwoody44 Posted November 5, 2023 Report Posted November 5, 2023 The absolute no of no's Whats he 5'9 and 185, he's a vet, that's the only difference between him and like 6 of our prospects. 1 1 Quote
Weave Posted November 5, 2023 Report Posted November 5, 2023 I don’t hate the idea, but I’d really like to see the mix in the bottom 6 change. Quote

Curt Posted November 5, 2023 Report Posted November 5, 2023 I like the idea of making a trade for a proven really good player, but he really does match the profile of a player type that the Sabres already have excess of. He is also on the books at a high number for 5 years after this season. So, while I like the general idea, I don’t think he is the right target for this team. 2 Quote
Randall Flagg Posted November 5, 2023 Report Posted November 5, 2023 This is the right idea, but this specific player isn't very good and seems to shrink at the moment. Piles up points when it's easy 1 Quote
nfreeman Posted November 5, 2023 Report Posted November 5, 2023 Does he have any history with DG or KA? 2 Quote
Zamboni Posted November 5, 2023 Report Posted November 5, 2023 IMO… If anything…. Focus on goaltending. Nothing else. Nothing. Quote
Carmel Corn Posted November 5, 2023 Report Posted November 5, 2023 I like the idea of adding an experienced vet or two to the forwards, but I would like to see someone who plays with more edge vs. finesse. 2 Quote
mjd1001 Posted November 5, 2023 Report Posted November 5, 2023 (edited) Not doing as well as he did, and he is getting older. Too much money. 23 goals in his last 91 games. He had that one 100+ point season with Calgary when he turned 28 years old, but for the rest of his career he averages in the mid 20's for goals per 82 and as mentioned by others, hes over 30 and that is when guys typically start losing production. I have ZERO interest in taking on that guy when you have to pay him almost $10m per season for 6 more years when he already looks like his production is falling. He's not worth close to $10m now already, every year that contract will get worse. My personal opinion of him always has been he is more exciting to watch than an actual good 'all around' player. Any money you spend on him I think you can give to Mitts and/or Quinn/Peterka in the future to secure them long term, and they are going to be better hockey players for this team over the next 5-6 years. Trade for him at nearly $10m, and those guys become a lot harder to sign. Edited November 5, 2023 by mjd1001 2 Quote

kas23 Posted November 5, 2023 Report Posted November 5, 2023 Contract is looking horrible now. Much worse than Skinner’s at his Krueger nadir. 2 Quote

Taro T Posted November 5, 2023 Report Posted November 5, 2023 If his nickname wasn't "Johnny Hockey" would ANYONE be interested in helping the BJs save themselves from themselves? 1 Quote

If he could be the player that he was before then yes. People on this board can't deny his play making ability It's off the charts. Tage would easily score 50-60 goals on his wing imo Quote
Carmel Corn Posted November 5, 2023 Report Posted November 5, 2023 If it can be a package deal including Jiricek, then I'd definitely be interested. Quote
inkman Posted November 5, 2023 Report Posted November 5, 2023 Let’s trade for other team’s best players szn started early this year Quote

GASabresIUFAN Posted November 5, 2023 Report Posted November 5, 2023 Just what we need, a declining small forward on a terrible contract. I have an idea, how about we acquire some goaltending and hire a coach willing to bench top forwards who aren't helping out on defense. Quote
