TheAud Posted November 1, 2023 Report Posted November 1, 2023 Seems likely that Ottawa screwing up the Dadonov trade to Vegas and having it subsequently costing them a first round pick was a straw-that-broke-the camel's-back moment for the new Ottawa ownership relative to Dorion, or simply a good catalyst to replace him as they may have wanted to do anyway. Something like that. No way these two events being announced on the same day are a coincidence. Quote

Not really 1. Dorion traded the 7th overall pick in 2022 for a year of Debrincat who didn’t fit DJ Smith’s System. The pick from Detroit will not be Top 10 this year. 2. He capped out the Senators to the point where they couldn’t sign Pinto if he wasn’t suspended. 3. He didn’t properly inform VGK of No Trade List and just cost them another first round pick as @LGR4GMmentioned. 1 1 Quote

Buffalonill Posted November 1, 2023 Report Posted November 1, 2023 So let me get this straight The NHL punishes Ottawa for a trade but the Blackhawks get nothing. Makes sense Quote
Flashsabre Posted November 1, 2023 Report Posted November 1, 2023 Ha my dad said to me last night he doesn’t think Dorian and DJ Smith will last much longer in Ottawa. Have to get him to buy a lotto ticket.😀 Apparently the new owner is high on Patrick Roy so he might be a name of interest. Quote
dudacek Posted November 1, 2023 Report Posted November 1, 2023 A bunch of high profile errors plus a new owner, it was only a matter of time. Quote

... Posted November 1, 2023 Report Posted November 1, 2023 The entire Dadonov thing is ridiculous. If Cap Friendly has NMC details for individual players surely Vegas has to share some negligence somehow in that trade. 1 1 Quote

GASabresIUFAN Posted November 1, 2023 Report Posted November 1, 2023 Dorion's resume Drafted Stutzle, Sanderson, Pinto, Thachuk, and Batherson creating a solid long-term core with Chabot. Added Chychrun, Giroux and Tarasenko for veteran leadership. Added young talent Norris and Joseph to supplement his core. He also actively worked to add goaltending in Forsberg and Korpisalo. This is a good team he has built that just missed the playoffs last year, and like the Sabres, they have a real chance to make the playoffs this season. Quote

They usually get all the contract details, but not always. It was Ottawa’s responsibility to inform Vegas, and they negligently did not. Quote
Flashsabre Posted November 1, 2023 Report Posted November 1, 2023 (edited) I think losing a first round pick over this incident that happened almost 2 years ago is a joke. A fine should have been the punishment. And why did it take the NHL this long to figure it out? I understand why the new owner is pissed. Dorian’s days were numbered ever since Andlauer brought his buddy Staois in above Dorian. Smith will be next out the door. Edited November 1, 2023 by Flashsabre 2 1 Quote
