Huge game. Massive. Should be treated like a playoff game. If they don't bring it here, against the direct competition, then there's a huge problem with this team.

Ottawa started fast against the Wings but the Wings wore them down with their speed and killed them on the PP. We have to do it the same. Stand up to the physicality they will likely bring, outskate them, and kill them on the PP. Netfront will be massive, both ends. 

This is it, time to see if we have a team or not.

I have been harping on goaltending for too long to say this Rico.   Playing hard should be a given.  Goaltending has to be taken care of first. 

I actually think that UPL will play about as good as Comrie tonight.  Sometimes the boys play looser and score more goals with him in the net.   Tonight would be a good night for it.

But they got decent goaltending last night and lost because they didn't play hard.

Since I still think they are better than their record shows, I have two factors to consider:

1.  Other teams are not sitting back against Buffalo, and they are following a blueprint to beat us - play hard, slow them down, keep the score close, and count on us to make the first mistake

2.  Preseason was a long tryout that didn't give the core much work together.  We are still in the tryout by carrying 3 goalies, plus Benson and Savoie.  We were not ready to start fast, so instead we are starting way too slow.

Would add Granato put no weight on winning the last three preseason games to get a winning “mindset” in place for this season.

SHOULD be a given, but it hasn't been. I've been harping on that for years. Still am. 

Which is why I see tonight's game as so important. If you don't bring it for a game against your direct competition you likely never will (or at least not regularly enough for it to matter).

Number 1 isn’t relevant re: the hypothesis that they are better than their record 

Number 2 might be, but given that those aspects were intended features of the GM, and not bugs, it might be more relevant towards the idea that we could and should be better than we are, more so than an implication that we, in fact, are. As “are” would require intent

One way to get VO to play Defence? Just spoonin' out ideas, not calling anything.... I would like VO to get some good run and trade him and a G not named Levi for some such. Need room to get younger, no? I have had my eye on a 2019 year kid.....
