His perspective is that he loves it because all of the NHL teams are gathered in one place. It’s easier for him to get stories.

Sportsnet wrote that it was a cost saving idea along with the issue of privacy in having your own war room. Some teams were complaining about being overheard about picks and trades due to the proximity.

Another mention was the free agency date being too close to the draft.

They could simply use this device for every table.

To the bolded point, I have wondered for years how these teams manage to hide any of their intentions/secrets/trade conversations when they are packed onto the floor together elbow-to-elbow. It always seemed odd to me.
