It opened for me. Try incognito maybe?

Essentially it said his problem with alcohol started when he was 16 playing in the OHL and partying with the 20yo players in the big city (Ottawa).

It did say he cleaned up under Ted Nolan's supervision and was 9 years sober when the article was written. Arguably CTE could have caused him to fall off the wagon, though many career players struggle outside the structure of playing on a hockey team.

In any case the long story short is he was prone to party lifestyle without the head injuries.

Simon was married twice and had five children. In 2017 he filed for bankruptcy, saying he was unable to work due to what he believed were symptoms of CTE which, according to documents, he said were “attributable to significant brain trauma during his hockey career.” A doctor confirmed Simon suffered from anxiety and depression, which are symptoms of CTE.

I’ve always thought dropping the gloves and fighting was stupid. I’m a fan of scrums and scrimmages after chippy play or when someone takes a cheap shot because that’s legit emotion

Scrimmages? So what do they do, just call or the game after a choppy play and say the rest of the time on the ice doesn’t count?

From Friedman 32 Thoughts

It sure sounds like Rod Brind’Amour is all but extended in Carolina. He has waited for his assistants to be taken care of. You will remember that, in 2021, Dean Chynoweth left for Toronto when he felt he could do better on the open market.

🤬

At the very least Granato’s assistants need to be turfed. A PP specialist and I would like to see a great former dman to come in and work with all these great young dmen. Gonchar and Foote have worked wonders with Vancouver.

No one out there was better than Lindy. They were right about that.

Predator's beat Florida at their own game. That team is on a tear. Remind me, who's their leader? Does he love hockey?

Thier leader is Josi, but yes, O'Reilly is having a very good year, as is Nyquist. Shenn is playing well too. Trotts did a hell of a job in free agency in the off season. This was supposed to be a rebuilding year but he cobbled together a very good team that can make a deep run in the playoffs. It's been a very fun and enjoyable year to be a Preds fan.

Ryan O'Reilly always loves hockey when his team wins... when it doesn't he loses his love of the game and wanders off to another team. He pushed his was out of Colorado, he pushed his way out of Buffalo, he straight up abandoned Toronto...

Don't give him too much credit... The Predators are a good team.. ROR is just a piece of it.  They lucked into an exceptional coach after Florida and New Jersey both decided on other options.  It's worked OK for Florida, not so much for NJ.

That's the contrast though right?

He has extensive coaching experience obviously, but like KA this is his first GM job. If you remember their roster end of last season it was filled with rookies and nobodies. They tore it right down aside from goaltending, which is where you start. Unlike Adams he stated up front that building the culture back was step one. So they went out and got solid character veterans to build around. the results speak for themselves, and the contrast to the Sabres "plan" is obvious.

So he's a fair weather floater and they were just lucky. Okay sure. Don't stop believing.
