I know there have been some pretty good players to wear the number 9 for the Sabres over the years, but 20 years from now Benson will be theist to wear the number!!

There should be some accountability for takes like this. Kid blows out his knee his first game.  You owe $50,000.

Yeah.  If that happens @sweetlou you need to pay 10x what you do now to post here.  😜

Hello, Scott Arneil!!!!

I'm going to google the name and number now to see if I am correct and check his stats!!!

He was a good all around player, but lets hope Benson is better!

Go Sabres!

I think the fact they handed him #9 off the hop was a big sign of their thoughts on him and plans for him. He wasn’t skating around camp wearing #85.

The kid seems about as likeable as you can imagine. From a hard working carnival family and as personable as can be. High skill but works his can off every shift. He will definitely be a fan favourite in short order.

The best quote I heard about Benson during the draft buildup was “You can put Benson on any line and he will make that line the best line”

They really did get a gift with this kid falling to #13.

It is really a shame that Dudley left in the prime of his career at the age of 26(after 74-75 season) to go to the WHA.  I don't remember much about the circumstances other than $$$.   He was not the same player when he returned in 1979.

Anyone who cares to google it may prove me wrong, but I’d be willing to bet he’s the only one who played for the KC Scouts and Atlanta flames

But did he play for the Golden Seals?

Believe it or not, you'd lose the bet.  Dick Lemieux was traded from KC to Hotlanta in '75 and played one game for the Flames.

What about Martin’s stats when he wore #9? Like Taro said, it was only a part of a season but…..

Hmm...Benson will be theist?  That's an interesting take...do you have any evidence to back up this claim?

Do you know what church he goes to or what denomination he is?

Is he up for sainthood?

Please tell us more...
