LGR4GM Posted September 12, 2023 Report Posted September 12, 2023 (edited) From the Jim Trotter complaint against the NFL. Note the quotes attributed to Jerry Jones and Terry Pegula. Quote As one such example, Terry Pegula, owner of the Buffalo Bills, stated in reference to players protests against racial injustice that, "If the Black players don't like it here, they should go back to Africa and see how bad it is." LTS Posted September 12, 2023 Report Posted September 12, 2023 I am not familiar with this Trotter complaint against the NFL. Never heard of it. Disgusting comments without a doubt. Naturally need to determine if they were actually said. 2 1 Quote
Pimlach Posted September 12, 2023 Report Posted September 12, 2023 Trotter was hired by The Athletic so he has a new platform. Anyone know who replaced him on NFL network? Quote
Marvin Posted September 12, 2023 Report Posted September 12, 2023 Not cool if true. Very not cool. Quote
Night Train Posted September 12, 2023 Report Posted September 12, 2023 Pegula will have to answer. Through his lawyers, no doubt. Quote

Sabres Fan in NS Posted September 12, 2023 Report Posted September 12, 2023 This stinks. Of course there is a denial. Not even directly from Mr. Pegula's legal team. To my knowledge there has never been any hint of racism in anything the Pegula's have said or done. Jerry Jones is a different story, although I have no knowledge of his past behavior either. 1 1 Quote
Radar Posted September 12, 2023 Report Posted September 12, 2023 I will stick with Pegula without hard proof and I'll be shocked if there is. 2 1 Quote
Buffalonill Posted September 12, 2023 Report Posted September 12, 2023 He will be forced to sell the team if that is true . 1 Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted September 12, 2023 Report Posted September 12, 2023 Trotter better have solid evidence of these statements, such as a recording, otherwise he may just find himself on the other side of a lawsuit for defamation. 1 Quote

I'm not commenting on the veracity of Trotter's comments because I don't know. Assuming it is not true, or even if it was true, the worst approach for Terry P to take is to sue and then have this issue linger for years in the court system. As you well know as an attorney, civil cases can take years to work through the system. Right or wrong, it's not worth it to Terry P. Quote
Crusader1969 Posted September 12, 2023 Report Posted September 12, 2023 I can’t imagine Terry being dumb enough to think such a thing And if he is dumb enough to think that -there is no way in hell he says it out loud Quote

It just might be worth it to him, he might feel very strongly about clearing the air. It he doesn’t go beyond this statement then these claims hang around uncontested. Quote
nfreeman Posted September 12, 2023 Report Posted September 12, 2023 If it’s false TP should sue for defamation. 2 1 Quote
Zamboni Posted September 12, 2023 Report Posted September 12, 2023 I’ll choose to believe it’s a bunch of untrue crap. Until it’s not. 2 Quote

Protected speech is from government action not private. This is the publication by a private person of a very nasty quote attributed to another private person. I don't believe the law cares how the publication of the information is made. Edited September 12, 2023 by GASabresIUFAN Quote
