Joe Daley. I saw him play vs. Minnesota and HOF goalie Gump Worsley in the first month of the season in 1970. Neither goalie wore a mask. Sat in row 1 in the corner next to the goal. Worsley got hit in the face. Bled. Went to the bench. Some smelling salts and vasoline. Right back in the net.

I have a copy of that photo from when I was a kid, but I think it’s Larry Carriere from 1973.

This is one of my favorites only because about a minute later that smirk was wiped off of his face. Unfortunately, this is a screen shot I grabbed from a youtube copy of the game. I can no longer find the actual photo.

Brian Smolinski? He's long retired. Bitter grudges over the decades are the best. Someone should have wiped that smirk off his face at some point. Great stuff sir!
