Porous Five Hole Posted August 15, 2023 Report Posted August 15, 2023 Figure you’re a middle of the road player and it’s a long term deal. What franchises are on your no move list? For me: 1) Toronto (toxic fanbase and overwhelming media) 2) Dallas (I just don’t want to live in the state of Texas. Not my style) 3) Winnipeg (brutal winter and heading into a rebuild) 4) Arizona (ownership/arena challenges and perpetual loser) 5) Carolina (irrational dislike given my Sabres fandom) What about you? #freejame Posted August 15, 2023 Report Posted August 15, 2023 1) Ottawa—Middle of nowhere 2) Winnipeg—middle of nowhere 3) Calgary—middle of nowhere 4) Edmonton—middle of nowhere 5) Arizona—no stability Quote
dudacek Posted August 16, 2023 Report Posted August 16, 2023 Toronto - hate the city, hate the fans, hate the spotlight Islanders - living in Metro New York would be my nightmare Rangers - living in Metro New York would be my nightmare Devils - living in Metro New York would be my nightmare Dallas - don’t think Texas would be a good fit for this Wet Coaster Top 5 cities not on my NTC: Vancouver Seattle San Jose Buffalo Montreal - these are all about where I think I’d like to live, keeping in mind I’ve never been to the latter 2, or about 2/3rds of the league’s cities. RochesterExpat Posted August 16, 2023 Report Posted August 16, 2023 The five Canadian teams with the smallest airports. I don’t want to move to Canada for half the year, sorry Canadians. I think a more interesting question would be, “you’re a free agent and 31 teams (Buffalo is the only one missing) have made you identical offers, which 5 teams do you want your agent to negotiate with?” I think those answers might be more fun. I like this a bit more, too: 1) Buffalo—bring home the glory 2) Denver—nowhere else I’d rather live 3) Montreal—amazing city and franchise 4) Boston—amazing city and franchise 5) Vancouver—seems like a pretty cool place Quote
Curt Posted August 16, 2023 Report Posted August 16, 2023 Fun idea. The 5 teams that would be on my no trade list are: Arizona NY Rangers NY Islanders Toronto Montreal Just avoiding the depressing situation of Arizona, the hellscape and high taxes of NYC, and the cultural fishbowl and high taxes of Tor and Mtl. Maybe I would swap Montreal for another team just because that is the closest team to my family. Quote
LabattBlue Posted August 16, 2023 Report Posted August 16, 2023 Winnipeg, Arizona, Ottawa, Edmonton & St. Louis Quote
thewookie1 Posted August 16, 2023 Report Posted August 16, 2023 1. Toronto 2. Boston 3. Philly Those three are my most hated teams to be honest and I wouldn’t be able to give my all for any of them as such. 4. Montreal (but only if I have multiple years on my deal) Would waive if it’s a rental situation just to play for the storied franchise. Can’t speak French. 5. Winnipeg - so very very cold, would waive as a rental 6. Arizona - it’s just a convoluted mess 7. Ottawa - I’d want to see their new ownership in action before playing for them 8. Seattle - the state is a mess 9. Vegas - would waive for rental but they treat players like disposable tools 10. Columbus - purely due to Babcock; otherwise would be fine HFBoards had a similar thread so I'll just take my answer from there. Quote
Weave Posted August 16, 2023 Report Posted August 16, 2023 Chicago Arizona Winnipeg Edmonton Any NYC team Quote

GASabresIUFAN Posted August 16, 2023 Report Posted August 16, 2023 (edited) Honestly where would you want to play? 1. Eliminate all Canadian teams - high taxes and either small markets or insane pressure cookers. Add crappy weather 2. Eliminate all California, NY and NJ teams - high taxes, band wagon markets (see all California teams), a small mkt (Buffalo and NYI) or bad places to play (NYC and NJ). 3. Eliminate all remaining poorly managed franchises like CBJ, AZ, Chicago and Philly or apathetic fanbases like Fla. 4. I’d also eliminate Sea because what a depressing place to live. So who’s left? LV, Minn, Stl, Det, Bos, Nash, Car, TB, Pitt, Wash, Colo, and Dallas. Edited August 16, 2023 by GASabresIUFAN Quote
Randall Flagg Posted August 16, 2023 Report Posted August 16, 2023 1.) Toronto 2.) Ottawa 3.) Los Angeles 4.) Detroit 5.) NYI Quote
Pimlach Posted August 16, 2023 Report Posted August 16, 2023 Sorry Canada but high taxes, cold weather, crazy expectations and some very remote outposts 1) Winnipeg - weather, boring 2) Calgary - weather, cow town 3) Edmonton - weather, boring 4) Arizona - suck franchise 5) Toronto - hate them 6,7,8) NYR/NYI/NJD - no NYC at all 9) San Jose - bleach 10) Seattle - yuck Quote
French Collection Posted August 16, 2023 Report Posted August 16, 2023 Toronto, can’t stand the fanbase. Arizona, sh**show. Florida, no real fans there. Tough choice because I would love to golf year round. New York, too big for this guy. Columbus, lack of success and haven’t heard many good things about the city. Quote

PerreaultForever Posted August 16, 2023 Report Posted August 16, 2023 Arizona. Then idk. Probably Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton. All that cold prairie stuff even though they have rabid fan bases. Right now it would be any of the bottom feeders like Anaheim and San Jose since they are years away from being good but that's temporary. I guess Columbus. Quote
