mrjsbu96 Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 For legal reasons which I can't divulge (and by "can't divulge" I mean "don't understand"), we can't air any commercials. There is some automated system in place that puts the music on whenever a certain signal hits it, theoretically indicating that a commercial is starting. I guess the problem has something to do with the system working in 30 second increments (or 1 minute incrememnts or something) so that even if a tiny little bit of audio (10 seconds or so) that we can't broadcast goes out, the stream gets shut down for much longer. Sorry that details are sketchy and that my post probably helps you out very little, but that's what I know about the system. forget answering questions about the legal mumbo, bring back the WGR ball girl contests on the WGR website! I miss the real WNY flavor that I can't find out here in NJ!
sabre31_98 Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 I disagree. They're saying he's feeling better to avoid the 7-day rule for concussion recoveries. I hope he's feeling just dandy - I want him back on the ice! I am not an expert by any means but I believe the "seven-day rule" is more a suggestion rather than a rule. I would guess we would see him in there on Wednesday but like Mair, playing a game or two might be a real struggle and he could sit again.
Stoner Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Why assume there's a concussion? Do you guys work for WGR or something?
SHAAAUGHT!!! Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 tell me more about this nerve. is it the one that gets pinched when your brain rattles around the inside of your skull like the beans in a maraca? seriously, i hope you know what you're talking about. i never heard of this. UnionAMG was close with what he said above, it is the same thing that happens when a boxer gets knocked out from a punch in the mouth. When hit, the jaw bone slids back in the head and pinches this nerve (it has a name but I forget). That will instantly drop a guy, but usually the guy can bounce right back, sometimes even in the same fight. I'm really hoping this is what happened to Connolly. It is very possible because it looked like he took the whole hit on the jaw. If the elbow hit him anywhere on the side of the head or the forehead I don't think we would see back him until 2007.
DWarner Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 XM's Around the Rink in 90 Seconds is saying "an upper body injury and a concussion." Someone else on XM said they are hoping to have to ready for game 3 though. Has anyone else heard anything new today?
X. Benedict Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 XM's Around the Rink in 90 Seconds is saying "an upper body injury and a concussion." Someone else on XM said they are hoping to have to ready for game 3 though. Has anyone else heard anything new today? I watched the hit again and again in slo-mo. The best I could tell it looked like Connolly took it in the jaw and collarbone.
UnionAMG Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 I think it's safe to say that with the policy on reporting injuries in the playoffs we will not know anything until about 6:59 pm Wedenesday night. Until then it will be classified as "an upper-body-vicinity ailment, injury type boo-boo" Honestly, we won't know anything until gametime if Connoly is in the lineup or not. I'm not putting any faith in any media reports as to whether he'll be ready to go or not.
apuszczalowski Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 I'm glad no one retaliated for that hit cause it would have made the Sabres Hippocrits, The same thing happened in Philly but we were the one dishing the LEGAL hit. Also they probably would have sent Connolly to the box for interference or tripping the way those refs were calling the game. I'm still trying to figure out how a Senator can skate into a Sabres and the Sabre goes to the box for tripping? When I saw it was Connolly the first thing I thought of was that he was finished for the season (Isn't it funny how before the season started, not many of us would have cared if he missed time with another concussion?) I really hope it isn't serious cause the new NHL has brought the true player out of Connolly and I hope he can keep playing at this level for alot more years
GGM Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 I'm glad no one retaliated for that hit cause it would have made the Sabres Hippocrits... Yeah, but they'd be HUNGRY hippocrits.
