Not that it is anything definitive but McKenzie’s scout put him at 33 overall.

and the Hockey News had him at 54 so who knows? Like a number of this year's prospects the rankings varied a lot.

To be clear I'm not saying this guy is going to be a bust, I think I just reacted to the Samuelsson comparison. I don't see that at all.

Yeah, I don’t know either.  I tend to give McKenzie’s list the benefit of the the doubt because it’s assembled by actual NHL scouts.

"This is a Sabre"? That could be taken a number of ways 🙂

Yes he's a D man, but I don't care for this pick myself. I don't see the Samuelsson comparison at all. I see him as a bottom pairing guy at best.

I would have taken Kalan Lind.

“He knows he’s a strong defenseman that’s a pass-first guy, gets the puck out and is efficient defending, and then his offense is secondary,” Rud said. “Not that he’s not concerned about (offense), but I think he takes care of everything in his own zone first, and then if he can join the offense and lead in any way, he certainly likes to do that.”

Sounds a great deal like Samuelsson to me, although Samuelsson because of his huge size maybe even more aggressive physically.

100 SabreSpace bonus points to whomever knows the correct pronunciation of his last name.

From what I've seen it kinda just reads like it looks: "STIR-BACK"

It's pronounced like "Trebek" except the "S" is slient and "bek" sounds like "back". That reminds me of your mother last night, Trebek, on her back and unable to speak - although she wasn't exactly silent!

I'm looking forward to Rob Ray's pronunciation of it.

Stampede defenseman, Maxim Strbak (pronounced STIR-beck), was the highest-ranking Herd member, listed 44th overall. Strbak's ranking names him an "A" rating, slotted to be drafted in the second round of the NHL Entry Draft.20 jan 2023

He definitely does speak with an accent. He's very sharp and smart, I like him. Hope he does well.
