This doesn’t really matter.  I could be off, but how often do players actually “come up” from the ECHL team to the affiliated AHL team?

Other than goalies, it seems like never.

It’s going to be just as common as someone bouncing between the AHL and NHL. Just take a look for some overlap between the rosters (the interface kind of sucks, so good luck). They need to replace injured and called up players somehow.

And if people are wondering about getting a closer team, is it possible that this is temporary until they can get an organization moved?

The Sabres don't get a say where ECHL teams play. Unless Terry bought a team and moved it to Binghamton.

They could influence investors through promises of supporting a team with some prospects and promotion to petition the league for a team. But it’s a moot point now.

The Amerks called up 2 forwards and 2 D from Cincy during the season when injuries occurred, as well as G Houser.

Danke.

Which is ROUGHLY equivalent to the Sabres calling up Amerks this year.

Would expect there to be a fair amount of fluctuations in the # of callups year to year.  But hopefully with the Sabres continuing to be one of the youngest teams in the league, they will continue to have good luck injury-wise which should flow to the Amerks as well, at least to a degree.  (If the Sabres don't call up 10 Amerks, the Amerks don't need to call up 10 ECHLers.

Don’t they also from time to time wind up signing someone mid-season who didn’t actually have an AHL contract? I feel like we’ve seen some of those over the years but it may just be because of our revolving door of goalies.

What’s the ECHL?

East Coast Hockey League.  (Which actually has teams as far west as Idaho and Utah.)

It's the biggest of the minor pro leagues below the AHL.  That's where Cincinnati was playing and whatever the Sabres new affiliate will be playing.

It was a joke. I have friends who played in it.

Next you’re going to tell me that the Big Ten is about to have 16 teams.

No idea how many they actually have now, but would NOT let one of my kids be a math major at any of those schools.  They don't count too good.  😉

Not even Purdue? They got maths.

Unless they're using Base 14 (or Base 16 in a couple of sports) they ain't got TEN teams.  And pretty sure the poly sci departments would have their heads explode at even the thought of it being Base 14, so no, if you can't count beyond 10, you ain't got no maths no way no how.

Maybe the extra 6 are small?

Then it's false advertising on a massive scale.  Still wouldn't want someone studying math there as the administration must be unethical in that case.

Since when is there any ethics in math?  Rounding 2.49 up to 3 because it’s “close enough”?

Well, when you stop counting because you ran out of fingers, you probably agree that 2.49 rounds up to 3.  And if that's the case, don't want to send somebody there to be a math major.
